Our team is based on Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice - the heart of Silicon Beach. Our team is a unique mix of experienced techies, mobile veterans, philanthropists, producers, and social entrepreneurs. Our leadership team has, amongst other things, built and sold two tech startups and developed philanthropic giving strategies for some of the most well-known social enterprises today.
James Citron is the Chief Executive Officer of Pledgeling and leads the strategic vision and organizational growth across the company.
James is a serial mobile and social entrepreneur committed to harnessing the power of mobile technology to create a more connected, healthy and sustainable planet. Prior to Pledgeling, James led Mogreet and Outspoken, two of the largest text messaging and mobile engagement companies in the United States, to acquisitions by Silver Lake and Blackstone portfolio companies, respectively. An early pioneer in the mobile video space and nicknamed the ‘Father of MMS’, James’ technology today powers over 50% of all MMS messages sent by businesses and was awarded one of the first patents in the mobile video space.
James is a frequent speaker on social enterprise, mobile technology and entrepreneurship, and enjoys mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs committed to building businesses at the intersection of profit and purpose. A graduate of Princeton University, James is personally passionate about helping to eradicate illiteracy, homelessness and hunger.
Cassie Fowler is Chief Impact Officer at Pledgeling, responsible for working with companies of all sizes to achieve business ROI and success through the integration of purpose and impact.
Prior to joining the Pledgeling team, Cassie spent 15 years building global programs to support international nonprofits and media networks, including Amnesty International, The Green Belt Movement International in Kenya, Al Jazeera English and Bloomberg Africa. In these roles, Cassie pioneered the first corporate giving partnerships with companies such as Google, PACT, Shaklee, and Mainichi. Working hand-in-hand with 2004 Nobel Peace Laureate Dr. Wangari Maathai of Kenya, Cassie drove the launch of the Billion Tree Campaign in 2006 in partnership with the United Nations, which has planted 15B+ trees to date.
Cassie is a graduate of University of California, San Diego and a guest lecturer at USC’s Marshall School of Business. She serves on the board of Conscious Capitalism’s Los Angeles Chapter, and is the founder of the Ambassadorial Leadership Council for the World Is Just A Book Away. As an advocate of the role brands play in sustainable development, Cassie is passionate about leveraging disruptive technologies to drive scalable social & environmental impact across the world.
Paul Forsyth is the Chief Technology Officer of Pledgeling and is responsible for engineering, product, security, and integrations with third-party platforms.
Paul has over 15 years of experience building highly-scalable platforms with core expertise in video, messaging, and payments. Prior to joining Pledgeling, Paul was part of James’ engineering and leadership team at his last two companies, starting as a Senior Software Engineer, then Director of Engineering, and now CTO. Earlier in his career, he worked for Monster.com, where he designed and implemented search engines for their highly trafficked job search, and went on to become a Technical Lead for Monster.
A leading expert in mobile-first user experience and mobile optimization of platforms, Paul now leads a team of developers at Pledgeling to bridge the worlds of mobile with modern corporate giving programs. As the architect of Pledgeling's SaaS platform to power purpose and social impact for businesses of all sizes, Paul drives the technology vision to support the company's innovation and impact strategies.
Paul earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and is passionate about expanding access to clean water for communities around the world.
Grace Chung is Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for Pledgeling, responsible for working with companies of all sizes to integrate purpose and impact.
Prior to joining the Pledgeling team, Grace spent the past decade at the intersection of tech and social impact to support corporations, government and nonprofit organizations around the world. She led global corporate responsibility for AECOM’s 90,000 employees, launching the first-ever employee travel grant program in the architecture, construction, engineering industry. She also launched the Tech for Good program at Yahoo, leveraging products and technical expertise for social good initiatives with nonprofit partners.
Grace is a graduate of American University (BA) and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (MPP). She serves on the board of Access Ventures, an impact investment firm that strives to build more inclusive economies through mission-aligned investments that enable communities to flourish.
