The Gibson Gives | Gibson Foundation is a 501(c)(3) committed to introduce, inspire, and amplify the power of music through guitars across all generations, genres, and genders.
To make music matter to more people in more ways . . . one guitar at a time!
Gibson Gives believes in the power of music, and that getting instruments into the hands of those with a desire to make music is a life-changing event. A state-of-the-art music school in Inglewood, CA, 1500 Sound Academy offers comprehensive courses to music students and aspiring professionals who want to learn the craft of Music Production, Engineering, Songwriting, Mixing, Music Business, and Artist Branding. Gibson Gives is proud to announce a partnership with 1500 Sound Academy this year to give five music scholarships valued at $25,000 in addition to instruments and gear totaling over $12,500 across the program in Los Angeles, California, Beijing, China and Taipei, Taiwan.
Gibson Gives partnered with Free Guitars For Kids to provide guitars and amplifiers to deserving young children throughout the Nashville area in the spirit of making music matter, to more people, one guitar at a time. 100 guitars and amps were distributed to underserved children with a desire to learn music through arts programs throughout Nashville and surrounding counties.
Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) an internationally leader in the art and science of music therapy to improve health and well being in seniors has received a substantial instrument donation from Gibson Gives. These instruments are being used to conduct research on the relationship between music and the brain, and to provide patients with music therapy.
Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program and Gibson Gives have formed an alliance offering students the necessary experiential learning to create highly skilled future luthiers. Gibson Gives provided funding toward guitar lab essentials, supplied guitars for practical demonstrations as well as coordinated the delivery of multiple "cadaver" guitars to the school, aiming to enrich their students' learning experiences.
Gibson Gives collaborated with the University of Louisville Music Therapy Program and its director, Chris Millett, to supply instruments. In the graduate program's therapy research finals, students are required to dedicate a semester working with underprivileged children, engaging in music-based therapy sessions where music students teach the kids guitar playing. For the pilot program, Gibson Gives supplied the guitars. Following its successful validation, Gibson Gives continued support by providing guitars for the program's expansion, integrating it as a permanent fixture within the Music Therapy Program's curriculum.
