Our Mission

GLISI's mission is to uplift school leaders > transform mindsets and action > create vibrant cultures of innovation > build excellent and equitable schools. We believe teachers are the key to creating learning environments that support every student, regardless of neighborhood, family income or race. To achieve this vision, GLISI works with teams of educators from school districts to craft strong leaders in education who have the will, skill, and courage to disrupt the status quo and create excellent and equitable learning environments for all. In the past five years alone, GLISI has served more than 80 school districts and more than 7,000 Georgia teachers who influence the lives of over 1.7 million students across our state.

almost 4 years ago — Pelham City Schools, SW Georgia

Pelham City Schools is one of GLISI's longstanding rural partners. All of the 1,463 students they serve are economically disadvantaged. GLISI's partnership developed leader capacity and inspired system-wide structural shifts to better meet the needs of Pelham City's students and families. Our six-year partnership is paying off, with significant gains in math and literacy - the chosen focus areas through our partnership.

Clayton County Public Schools recognized that technical skills are only part of what makes teachers and leaders great. They ability to nurture healthy school culture matters too. We worked with school and district leaders through our COBALT program, challenging and transforming the way they see and serve themselves and - most importantly - all 63,489 of their students.

almost 5 years ago — Whitfield County Schools, NW Georgia

GLISI's work in Whitfield County Schools helped Kathy Ford discover her own leadership strengths. She launched the Grizzlies Mentor Program as her capstone project and inspired teachers and administrators in her school to see the value of building real relationships with their students. The knowledge that an adult in the building cared about them translated into improvements into attendance and classroom performance for student mentees.
