Hitting Cancer Below the Belt (HCB2) is dedicated to cancer prevention through education, awareness, early detection, and supporting lifestyle changes which create a bodily environment where cancer is challenged to survive.
Hitting Cancer Below the Belt's (HCB2) largest community event is being transformed in 2020 to the Boxer Brief Stay Away 5K! We bring awareness to colorectal cancer and raise funds to support the work we do in Central Virginia and extending to the southern counties as well. The 2019 5K event allowed HCB2 to provide 1,000 colorectal cancer screening tools to the uninsured population, provide and deliver $3,000 worth of nutrition to patients and survivors, travel over 1,000 miles with their large inflatable colon to educate community members, and provide educational media messages that reached over 205,000 people.
The Conklin family have dedicated their lives to prevent colorectal cancer from taking anymore of our loved ones. Rich Conklin, wonderful husband and dedicated father, passed away at the young age of 43 due to stage four colon cancer in 2011.
Team Gabe came together at the annual Boxer Brief 5K to honor their loved one who had recently passed due to colorectal cancer. Gabe left his young family at a very young age; however, his energy is helping to save lives!
Dr. Andrew Vorenberg and Dr. Marlisa Hurt join Founder/Executive Director in promoting how Hitting Cancer Below the Belt serves the Richmond, Virginia community and surrounding counties.
