Their mission is to improve the care and quality of life for children with cancer and offer support to their families. We focus our efforts on three main areas:
Supporting the financial, physical, and emotional needs of families through our programs. Serving as an advocate and resource in the community for childhood cancer. Funding cutting edge research to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
We carry out our mission through our Aid and Service Programs:
Patient Aid Program – helps pay medical or household bills provide gas and grocery cards, repairs the family car to assist in getting the child to treatment, helps purchase bus and plane fare when treatment is far from home, help cover the cost of alternative therapies, and supplements not covered by insurance, and helps with funeral expenses when a child earns their wings. Parents often miss working to care for a critically ill child. Eventually, it’s hard to pay bills so Megan’s Wings Patient Aid Program steps in to help. We work directly with medical social workers who help identify families in need. Megan’s Home - provides temporary housing so families can stay close to the hospital while their child goes through long term treatment such as bone marrow transplant. Adopt a Family Program - provides care packages to families in need over the holidays. Special Events and Hospital Service Program hosts therapeutic events and luncheons for patients and their families in and outside the hospital setting. Our Research Program - funds cutting edge childhood cancer research through organizations such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, St Baldrick’s Foundation, and City of Hope to help find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer.
