Art starts something in the brain. It establishes a foundation on which other forms of learning are built. Art inspires, teaches, and communicates. At ArtStarts, we believe that all children deserve fair and equal access to creative inspiration and experiences.
Founded in 1996, ArtStarts brings artists into schools across British Columbia. From live performances in gymnasiums to in-class professional artist residencies, our programs take place in public and private schools from kindergarten to grade 12.
ArtStarts' gallery and resource centre, in the heart of downtown Vancouver, houses Canada’s first gallery for young people’s art and a resource centre for BC’s arts-in-education professionals. The centre offers young people, artists and educators a venue for reflection, research, debate and much-needed celebration of their creativity.
