The ELF provides training, materials and small grants to community organizations and schools across Canada in order to assist them in the development of children's literacy initiatives. ELF-supported programs have served over 13 000 children, predominantly from First Nations, new Canadian and low-income communities.
We believe that literacy is the birthright of all Canadians. ELF-supported communities often report illiteracy rates of over 90%! With our support, programs serving children and youth at risk, have dramatically increased literacy rates.
