Our Mission Statement: Animal Friends, a premier companion animal resource community, is committed to promoting the animal-human bond and nurturing relationships with companion animals which are guided by compassion. It is our mission to: Reduce the number of unwanted animals through aggressive spay/neuter programs. Provide for the well-being of companion animals in need, while adhering to our no-kill tradition and find each a lifelong, loving home. Offer affordable wellness services and resources to pets and owners in need, targeting underserved communities, to support whole-life care. Promote the animal-human bond through outreach, education and therapeutic programming. And, act as an advocate on behalf of animals in crisis and as an enforcer of their rights and protection. We are deeply committed to these goals while ensuring the financial security and stability of the organization for future generations.

The mission of the Washington Humane Society (WHS) is to protect animals in the Washington, DC area from cruelty and harm.  WHS, the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States, has been the area’s leading voice for animals since 1870. As the only open-access shelter in the Nation’s Capital, the Washington Humane Society provides comfort and care to nearly 30,000 animals each year through its broad range of programs and services including sheltering for homeless animals, a comprehensive adoption program and off-site adoption events to find new families for the animals in our care, low-cost spay and neuter for pet owners and other local organizations, an aggressive TNR (trap-neuter-return) program for feral cats (CatNiPP), investigations of each allegation of animal cruelty or neglect through the Humane Law Enforcement, lost and found services to help reunite lost pets with their families, pet behavioral advice to help resolve issues that lead to animals being relinquished to shelters, working with breed rescue groups to find more homes for more animals, volunteer and foster programs to allow other members of the community to help us help more animals and an award-winning Humane Education program that teaches kindness to animals to the next generation of animal lovers.

DEI’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the people of downeast and coastal Maine through marine research, marine science education, and innovations in wild and cultured fisheries.

Pet Rescue of Maryland is a non-profit animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. They are staffed only by volunteers and rely on the kindness of their community to financially support their efforts. They do not have a central shelter. All of their animals are fostered in their homes as if they were their pets. This allows us to assess each animal and help find the home that best fits with their needs. They treat each animal as if they are part of their family until they become part of yours.
