This commitment is expressed in emergency relief and sustainable development, with an emphasis on the transition between them.

The Down Syndrome Research Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

Scouting has an important role in the lives of today’s youth. Scouting promotes the importance of values such as integrity, honesty, responsibility, patriotism, courtesy, perseverance, cooperation, tolerance, teamwork, leadership and respect for community, nature and spirituality. In the 2008-2009 Scouting year, for the first time in a quarter of a century, membership in Scouting across Canada has increased. We are working hard so that more youth have the opportunity to benefit from a Scouting experience. As the organization grows, more and more youth in need of financial assistance are identified.

We take these urban kids and bring them to our Lakeside wilderness location in Newmarket and offer them experiences that make them feel like part of a family. We help hundreds of kids develop practical skills, relevant knowledge and self-confidence. We concentrate on prevention rather than rehabilitation. In this way Trails builds trust and confidence and has a real influence on the direction of youths' lives.

SOS Children's Villages supports orphans and vulnerable children in several ways. We provide long-term,family-based care in our SOS Villages for over 75,000 children and youth worldwide. Each child is welcomed into a loving family environment and a supportive community in which to grow. We provide the education, training and life skills to help them become active, empowered young adults. In addition, SOS works with communities to help prevent child abandonment and to aid families struggling with poverty and disease through our SOS Family Strengthening Programmes. SOS Children's Villages supports over 1,000,000 children and their families through these family strengthening programmes, our schools and medical centres.

The story of Youth Singers of Calgary began in September, 1985, when Shirley Penner founded a small 28 voice Junior High choir at the Mount Royal Conservatory. Following four successful and exciting years of operation and growth, Shirley recognized a need in the community for a choral based performing arts organization that would add elements including dance, theatre, production, staging and lighting. Shirley enlisted help from fellow artists and educational professionals, and they came together to create an organization whose commitment to music, excellence in teaching and strong teamwork endures to this day. Almost thirty years later, Youth Singers continues to be a model for ingenuity, innovation and collaboration, providing broad performing arts training and opportunities for young people.

To provide dynamic leadership for implementing what we see as universal values founded on fundamental Islamic values by contributing to the alleviation of poverty and securing better socio-economic life for the disadvantaged groups through empowering them to depend on themselves and participate in the decisions concerning their own problems. These values are echoed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other United Nations human rights instruments. The freedoms and responsibilities inherent in them lead directly to tolerance, pluralism, gender equality, public dialogue and non-violence to settle disputes, respect for all people regardless of differing characteristics – all part of what we call “Canadian values”.

The CPFQ Child Sponsorship Program is designed to build bridges between the Canadian community and Palestinian children living under occupation or in refugee camps. Children enrolled in our program live under conditions of extreme poverty and unemployment. Many of them live in densely populated refugee camps. A suitable infrastructure is absent, seriously threatening the physical and mental health of residents. Many children suffer from serious health problems and disabilities. Due to financial hardship, many have to leave school at a very young age to help support their families. The severe restrictions on employment and movement make the future of these children very bleak. In addition to providing much needed financial assistance, the program helps maintain stable and rewarding relationships between each child and their sponsor. This simple message of hope can offset some of the effects of the chaotic and insecure conditions in which they live.

For over 27 years in Durham Region, Girls Inc. has helped girls at-risk achieve their full potential. We've provided thousands of girls knowledge, skills, and attitudes to overcome social, emotional, and economic challenges in order to achieve their full potential. Girls who participate in Girls Inc. programs: Grow self-esteem that carries over to home, school, and the community; Develop sound decision-making and communication skills; Assert themselves as confident individuals throughout their lives; Build key leadership and strong work skills; Create meaningful, supportive peer groups. Programs cover a variety of topics such as: - Body image and self esteem - Bullying and violence prevention - Health & relationships - Peer pressure - Substance use prevention - Science, math & technology - Financial literacy - Sports participation

Sisterhood Agenda is an award-winning, tax-exempt nonprofit organization that creates and implements activities for women and girls around the globe for education, support and empowerment. Sisterhood Agenda promotes positive social change and has over 6,000 global partners in 36 countries. Global partners create an extensive sisterhood network to increase local organization capacity and unite women and girls. Sisterhood Agenda's SEA (Sisterhood Empowerment Academy), based in the U.S. Virgin Islands, attracts international participants. On global and local levels, Sisterhood Agenda addresses social, health, economic and cultural issues facing women and girls to promote positive life outcomes. Sisterhood Agenda's social impact is expanded through partnerships with agencies, individuals and businesses throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, India, the Caribbean, United Kingdom, Africa, Australia, and other geographic regions. To enable each community to provide for school-age children a hot, nutritious, culturally reflective breakfast in a social educational and stimulating environment. ABOUT US For more than 40 years, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs has provided healthy meals and educational, cultural and recreational activities to children across Southern Ontario, in a respectful and dignified manner. While originally focused on breakfast, we have expanded our offerings to include lunch programs at select clubs, ensuring children receive nutritious meals throughout the day to support their growth, learning, and overall well-being. OUR HISTORY Our doors opened in 1984 after it was determined that many community needs and concerns could be addressed with a breakfast program. Today, The Children's Breakfast Clubs operate as a non-profit organization in over 39 clubs. OUR IMPACT Quite often, hunger is invisible to the untrained eye and children are less likely to disclose this information to adults. Starting the day with a healthy breakfast has a proven track record that leads to improved overall health, decrease in behavioral issues, higher self-esteem and confidence levels, as well as better academic performance and extra-curricular participation. Using a holistic approach, we also deliver educational, cultural and recreational programs that help children aged 5 to 18 develop social, physical and cognitive skills.
