WOODLAND CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL - Cambridge District Association for Christian Education

Woodland Christian High School was established in 1976 by a group of parents in the Cambridge area. They believed that it was their responsibility as parents and people of God to establish a school that in all of its programs would honour God by leading children to a deeper understanding of what it meant to serve God. They believed that the education of their children was their responsibility, not that of the government. The school opened it doors for the first time in September, 1976. For the first number of years it operated in a number of church facilities in the Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo areas. The move to the present facilities occurred in 1979. Considerable expansion and renovation took place in 2002. Woodland currently serves approximately 250 students in Grades nine to twelve.

Our activities range from organizing vibrant annual conferences to disseminating research findings, recognizing excellence in environmental education and providing the only national link for Canadian educators with an interest in EL.

AASEE (Association for the Advancement of Science and Engineering Education)

AASEE is dedicated to advancing science and engineering education at the K-12 level. We work directly with students in the classroom. AASEE designs curriculum-based and fun hands-on activities through collaborative research, where we try to ensure a maximum engagement of teachers and parents along with the students. We provide training and resources to pre-university educators. We also create opportunities for the students to learn directly from experts and leaders in the respective fields. AASEE gives priority to diverse populations, namely Canada’s first nations peoples, girls, and those in financial need, as well as rural populations. We are mandated to work across the globe, and are implementing an ambitious plan. At AASEE we target tomorrow´s leaders in science and engineering who will be working with a true passion. We believe advancing science and engineering education is the right way to go, and the right thing to do.
