Chinmaya Mission Niagara (CMN) has been serving society since the late 1980s. Weekly classes were held from home to home until 1999 when Swami Tejomayananda officially created another chapter to Chinmaya Mission Worldwide. Weekly classes for kids, youth and adults continued in schools for the next few years. However, in August of 2007 CMN moved into its own facility named Chinmaya Dhara or the Flow of Consciousness. Just as there was demand for a centre in Niagara, so too was there demand for a teacher. Born and raised in Niagara, Acharya Vivek turned away from the ordinary pursuits of life and took up the extraordinary path within. Having studied Vedanta at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya in Mumbai, India for over two years under the guidance of Swami Tejomayananda, Vivekji has returned to Niagara to share this ancient wisdom with one and all. Today, all activities are taking place at Chinmaya Dhara and are growing both in quality and quantity!
The BC Sports Hall of Fame is a non profit organization dedicated to inspiring excellence through the stories of British Columbia's sports heroes. The inspiration for the Hall is its honoured members and the collection of artifacts and stories of their challenges and triumphs from over 100 years. We inspire, educate and entertain through our educational programs, entitled the Hero In You. On line lesson plans provide teachers from grades 3 to 7 with curriculum-based content to teach students to set goals, develop a personal plan and puruse their dreams through inspirational stories of our Honoured Members. Field trips provide students and community groups with interactive, experiential tours of our galleries, including the Rick Hansen, Terry Fox, Greg Moore and Olympic Inspiration Galleries. Our On the Road teams share the stories of our heroes and our collection with communities and schools across the province, currently reaching 92% of the school districts in BC.
We have 3 focuses: School ground greening: Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds brings teachers, students and community members together to transform barren school grounds into healthy, safe and creative outdoor learning environments Public space greening: Common Grounds connects with community organizations, local volunteers, urban and parks planners and developers to restore, design, plant and steward public open spaces The transformation of Evergreen Brick Works: Opened in 2010, Evergreen Brick Works is a community environmental centre that inspires and equips visitors to live, work and play more sustainably. In an agreement with the Texas Historical Commission, the Admiral Nimitz Foundation manages and provides financial support to the National Museum of the Pacific War in order to: · -preserve and exhibit the material history of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz; · -preserve and exhibit the material history of the war in the Pacific-Asiatic Theater during World War II; · - offer and participate in programs that honor all veterans past and present, and in programs that provide strategic insights into national security issues affecting our country; · - support education concerning the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II; and, · -provide the general public, researchers, students, teachers and historians with a readily accessible platform for the exploration of the War in the Pacific-Asiatic during World War II.

We want to tear down the education sector's limitations by promoting practical and globalized learning approaches to prepare students for today’s globalized economy.
Founded in 2006, Share the Care is a leading enterprise youth volunteer service platform and hub organization in China, serving thousands Domestic and foreign enterprises and millions white-collar employees in the FESCO system. Share the Care has been paying attention to and helping vulnerable children for a long time. It is a major actor in the field of educational assistance for rural and urban children with special needs. Its work direction involves four fields, namely rural education, environmental protection, health and sanitation and art. The network of volunteer service projects and public welfare resources covers the whole country. So far, it has launched more than 300 Chinese and foreign enterprises to carry out more than 600 public welfare projects and voluntary service activities in 200 rural schools in seven provinces and cities, involving more than 15.7 million employees of enterprises and volunteers of university students and benefiting nearly 1,300,000 rural teachers and students. We offer three primary programs: Let’s Talk Science Outreach: Community-based program that connects youth and educators with outstanding STEM volunteers, including post-secondary students and industry-based professionals. Available for free across Canada, over 3,500 volunteers from 40 university and college sites engage youth in a wide variety of meaningful STEM-learning experiences, including the Let's Talk Science Challenge, a team-based competitive enrichment event for Grade 6-8 students offered at 23 sites. CurioCity: Web-based program to connect students and teachers with the STEM community, offering an interactive and reliable place for youth, ages 13-17, to explore and engage in STEM issues using technologies and relevant contexts that appeal to them. IdeaPark: Dynamic new online place for early years and Kindergarten/primary educators to access tools, resources and services that help them support young children’s development as critical thinkers and problem solvers.
The idea for A Free Bird™ was born out of the creative energy experienced firsthand by singer/songwriter and makeup artist, Godni Amir, founder and president of the organization. When Godni’s voice teacher, Gail found out her husband had been diagnosed with cancer, she had to stop teaching and become his primary caregiver. Soon after, she was also diagnosed with cancer. Although she and her husband struggled to defeat the disease, she never gave up her passion for the arts! Deeply touched by Gail’s determination to continue teaching and pursuing her creative endeavors, Godni was inspired to write music and poetry that reflected her benevolent spirit, which lead to the creation of a poem called “A Free Bird.” After seeing how creative energy could provide solace and inspiration to cancer patients, Godni wanted to share the healing power of the arts with others. A Free Bird™ was then created, delivering the message that everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves and fly free.
A Northern Ontario cultural icon, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra began in 1979. Our current Music Director & Conductor Matthew Jones celebrates 10 years with us in 2010-2011. The over 50 community players are mentored by a core group of professional musicians who are also teach at the School of Music. The Chorus was formed in 2004 and its membership has grown to upwards of 45 members. A crowd pleaser, the Chorus has performed ambitious works and its Messiah has garnered full houses at its accessible pay-what-you-can performance. The Geoffrey James Lee School of Music began at the local college with a small group of students. Now housed on the top floor of the former Hollinger Gold Mine building, it employs 5 full-time professional teachers who teach over 120 music students each week; individual and ensemble lessons are offered in a range of instruments, plus music theory and Kindermusik. The Timmins Symphony Orchestra's 12 member Board is drawn from the community, orchestra and chorus.
TanzZeit e.V. is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 by dancer and choreographer Livia Patrizi to promote contemporary dance in Berlin schools. As a founding member of the Bundesverband Tanz in Schulen+ e.V. TanzZeit is committed to anchoring the art of dance in the framework curriculum. Since 2010 TanzZeit has received regular funding from the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family and has become firmly established in the education system. TanzZeit receives considerable support from Wim Wenders, who has assumed patronage of the project. Since 2006 TanzZeit has been at home in Podewil and is a permanent cooperation partner of Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH. TanzZeit meanwhile unites five projects: DANCE IN SCHOOLS brings contemporary dance to the classroom and offers students a stage to perform at an annually dance festival. TanzZeit developed the digital toolbox CALYPSO, which provides practical materials for teaching dance in schools - in German and English. It is also the basis of further workshops for artists and teachers. On the stage of TANZKOMPLIZEN TanzZeit presents own dance productions for young audiences. TanzZeit also offers young people an artistic home for rehearsals and performances in the YOUTH COMPANY and hosts Crossover Dance Battles named CLUB OVAL.
The World Heart Beat Music Academy envisions a world where music bridges cultural, political, economic and linguistic barriers. We aim to inspire a passion for playing musical instruments and influence a generation of often alienated young people. We provide music tuition and personal development opportunities to over 260 children and young people between the ages of 5 and 24 years, who are based in Wandsworth and the surrounding London boroughs. Many of our students come from a range of challenging backgrounds. Some are the main carer for parents or siblings, some come from households with a history of drug addiction and alcohol abuse, some are classified as not in education, employment or training (NEET) and many are recent migrants and refugees, often moving into the UK without their parents or guardians. Many have difficulties engaging in school and finding employment when they are older. From our discussions with students, community leaders and teachers, we have learned that these young people are also less likely to engage with learning music and, therefore, unable to benefit from the social and personal development resulting from such activities. We provide students with tangible and useful experiences to develop their skills and build confidence, raise their aspirations and enable them to pursue whatever career they choose, in music or otherwise.
