Canine Action Project Inc.

Canine Action Project is dedicated to achieving healthy, safe communities for people and their dogs. By helping communities achieve balance between dog and community health. We facilitate a variety of programs which includes, on site spay and neuter clinics, programs to balance the health of the people and their dogs and humane education programs used in school and community programs. Humane education teaches people a ethical balanced sensitivity for all living things. Smaller programs are also facilitated which includes dwellings for dogs. This program provides dog houses to owners who don't have shelter for their dogs. It may include building houses through community or school programs. We also facilitate a dog food program which provides people with dog food on a periodic basis whom have taken the initiative to get their dogs spayed and neutered. C.A.P believes education is the foundation for change.

Mastervoices Inc.

OUR MISSION To spark greater human connections through musical storytelling, providing unforgettable performances that reflect the world around us and reimagine what the choral experience can be. HOW WE DO IT Our dedicated volunteer chorus partners with the world’s most talented, multi-disciplinary artists to create exceptional presentations that cross genres and promote deeper engagement with our audiences. We revive neglected masterpieces, energize the traditional repertoire through innovative collaborations, and commission new works on timely topics. We draw upon the rich diversity within our community to inspire us artistically and help guide us as members of our board, chorus, and staff. WHY WE DO IT (OUR VALUES) We believe that – as our founder Robert Shaw wrote in 1941 – “beautiful music is not the privilege of a few, but a necessity of us all.” We believe the human voice raised in communal song has a unique power to unite and inspire the best in all of us. We believe that working together toward artistic excellence can lift the human spirit and foster stronger interpersonal connections. We believe it is our responsibility to create art that is relevant to and resonates with our many audiences, bringing together voices from all backgrounds and walks of life. We believe in keeping our art form vibrant by engaging and involving the next generation of singers, creative artists, and audiences.

THE SCHOOL OF TORONTO DANCE THEATRE

For more than 40 years, the School has been training dancers who have been inspired by the depth of passion and the physical power of the human body in motion. Contemporary dance is an art form of kinetic expression, which both represents and reflects back to us our contemporary world through the elements of time, space, energy, musicality, and dynamics. It can provoke joy and wonder, sadness and despair, humour and delight, and deep feelings of passion and spiritual awareness. As an art form it keeps us profoundly in touch with others, with our environment, and with ourselves. Philosophically, training emphasizes the whole dancer - body, mind, and spirit - since excellent movement training engages the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our humanity. The School affirms its commitment to the education of all aspects of an individual through its strong and varied curriculum and through the provision of excellent role models in its faculty and guest artists.

Happy Tales Animal Sanctuary

Wildlife Rehabilitation CCWR is working towards a Wildlife Custodian Authorization, to be issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources. We are applying for the funding needed to build our intake clinic and animal enclosures in the hope of taking in injured and orphaned fawns and raccoons starting in spring 2010. Public Education Some harm to wildlife can be prevented through public education. CCWR will develop an extensive campaign to inform the public on the role people can play in minimizing the impact humans have on wildlife. Advocacy CCWR believes that we need to respect nature and that all life should have value and meaning. When human industry interferes with the balance of nature, we need to take a responsible approach. CCWR will work with city officials and developers, speaking on behalf of wildlife when its well-being is threatened by land development. Sanctuary Our sanctuary animals continue to receive excellent care for the rest of their lives.

FreeSchools World Literacy Charity

FreeSchools World Literacy is a registered Canadian charity that works to end illiteracy among the world's poorest. We believe illiteracy and ignorance go hand in hand and are the root causes of extreme poverty. This leads to violence, discrimination, human trafficking, and ultimately human suffering. We seek to end this by providing a low-cost, non-formal education to those who need it most. We have 79 schools in operation in parts of India and Thailand, and have improved the lives of over 3,000 people. Through our field partners we secure a donated and safe environment - helping to keep our costs very low - and hire a local teacher who truly understands their community. Our program is secular and does not impose any Western value: instead we encourage each school to evolve on its own. Help us break the cycle of extreme poverty and violence against these most vulnerable of people by donating today.
