Project TEMBO or 'TEMBO'(Tanzania Education and Micro-Business Opportunity) is a registered Canadian charity that provides funding and support to girls and women pursuing educational and small business goals in the Maasai homeland of rural northern Tanzania. TEMBO'S focus is in the villages of Longido and Kimokouwa in northern Tanzania. Our objectives are to: 1. Enable girls to pursue secondary school education by providing financial assistance and materials. 2. Provide funding for vocational training and for teacher training. 3. Operate a Community Library Program open to all residents in Longido District.

The Fondation De la Visite offers free at-home support to pregnant women and parents of newborn children in the 6 following districts of the Montreal area : Bordeaux-Cartierville, Côte Saint-Luc/Hampstead (territory of the CSSS René-Cassin), Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Lachine/Dorval, Montreal-North and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. Five objectives lead the preventive action: break the isolation of local families and from abroad, increase parental skills, improve the parent-child relationship, facilitate the integration of immigrant families and ensure the quality and effectiveness of the intervention with the families.

PEDAL’s programs include: • Education and training to ride and repair bicycles • Refurbishing, reusing and recycling bicycles and accessories • Free bikes for people in need • Reaching out to youth, women and marginalized communities • Facilitating pedal powered lifestyles PEDAL’s operations in Vancouver include: • Our Community Bikes! - 3283 Main St – A community bike centre where people repair their own bicycles, bicycle recycling services and training programs • Pedal Depot - 1830 Ontario St – Bicycle recycling services and training programs • Training classes at various local schools.

ADRA invests in the potential of individuals through community development initiatives targeting Food Security, Economic Development, Primary Health and Basic Education. As children, we all create art. We sing and dance together, we build sand castles, we make up stories and draw landscapes on the walls of our room. then somehow, life teaches us to become serious, get a 'real' profession and stop 'playing around', and links to our inner artist get broken. At Paracademia, we keep those links alive and awake them if they fall asleep. Paracademia is committed to nurturing and revitalizing our inner artists through the community efforts in education, collaborative productions and performances. We particularly support immigrants, especially women.

Dance To Be Free (DTBF) is a 501(c)3 that is changing the lives of incarcerated women through the healing power of collective dance. Through our DVD and Teacher-Training program, DTBF uses cathartic choreography and emotional music as the healing vehicles for addressing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms. During our teacher training inmates gain confidence as they experience leadership skills for perhaps the first time in their lives. As the training progresses their self-awareness increases through emotionally expressive movement. Our students also respond to journal prompts throughout the training that deepen their experience.

For over 80 yrs, Saint Columba House has worked in partnership with the Point St-Charles community, a neighborhood with a rich tradition of community-building and innovation. There are an estimated 57 million children around the world who do not attend primary school - more than half of these are girls. Basic literacy and numeracy are the fundamental tools that will enable girls and women, as well as boys and men, to take hold of their lives and develop solutions adapted to the needs of their communities and country. Research convincingly shows that programs directed to the education of girls are more effective than virtually any other community investment in the developing world. Basic quality education provides girls with access to health and nutrition information for themselves and their family - including helping to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS. It provides a safe place to grow as they learn. It gives them the knowledge to provide economic support to their family.

The Fresh Outlook Foundation (FOF) envisions a future in which people of all ages and from all sectors communicate and collaborate to make our communities more socially, culturally, environmentally, and economically sustainable. This is possible only when people talk with one another about important community issues, challenges, and opportunities. To that end, the Fresh Outlook Foundation’s passion is “building sustainABLE communities through conversations that inspire positive change.” FOF creates opportunities for those conversations to unfold at events such as the Building SustainAble Communities conference, REEL CHANGE SustainAbility Film Fest, ECO-BLAST Kids’ Camp & Concert, Thompson-Okanagan Climate Action Exchange, Breakfast of Champions, and Women 4 SustainAbility.

We work together with other Hope Story organizations in a multinational context to rescue orphaned and unprotected children and place them in safe, family-style homes where they can thrive in an atmosphere of acceptance, holistic care, and Christian love. In many places we also build schools and develop relevant community impact programs including outreach centers, medical clinics, care centers and our “Keeping Families Together” initiatives. In Canada, Hope Story is a gathering point for men, women and children who dream of long-term sustainable change in the life of another person as a practical, meaningful expression of the heart of God.
