Uniting Voices Chicago

Our mission is to inspire and change lives through music. Founded as a single choir in Hyde Park at the height of the Civil Rights Movement in 1956, in a traditional year, we serve nearly 5,000 youth from every Chicago zip code. Our founder, Reverend Christopher Moore, believed in using music to unite youth from diverse backgrounds. That simple yet powerful mission has grown exponentially, with programs in 92 city schools, 11 neighborhoods, a choir for boys with changing voices and the world-renowned Voice of Chicago. Under the leadership of President and Artistic Director Josephine Lee, Uniting Voices Chicago's mission has been elevated to a world stage, using music to create global citizens and revolutionizing the youth choral arts.

Paracademia Center Inc

As children, we all create art. We sing and dance together, we build sand castles, we make up stories and draw landscapes on the walls of our room. then somehow, life teaches us to become serious, get a 'real' profession and stop 'playing around', and links to our inner artist get broken. At Paracademia, we keep those links alive and awake them if they fall asleep. Paracademia is committed to nurturing and revitalizing our inner artists through the community efforts in education, collaborative productions and performances. We particularly support immigrants, especially women.

LDS

Over 18,000 children and youth in B.C. are diagnosed with a Learning Disability. With few resources in the school system to support them they are being left behind. By definition children with learning challenges are of average or above average intelligence but blocks in one or more areas of the brain mean they have challenges understanding and using language and their ability to receive, process, recall or communicate information is affected. Learning challenges can lead to social anxiety, low self-esteem and many other challenges. Together we can help. LDAV offers remedial teaching that builds confidence by helping children understand their unique strengths and teaches them strategies and skills for overcoming their challenges. Armed with these tools children can advocate for themselves in school and access the education that will allow them to achieve their dreams. Every child has the right to learn and the power to achieve. Help us make this a reality today.
