The International Women’s Media Foundation is a vibrant global network dedicated to strengthening the role of women in the news media worldwide as a means to further freedom of the press.

MA was founded in 1976 with the belief that in order to ensure the free and unfettered flow of information and ideas necessary to maintain a truly democratic society, media must be accessible, accountable, decentralized, representative of society's diversity, and free from overt or covert government control and corporate dominance. MA dedicates itself to fostering a genuine diversity of media voices and perspectives, holding the media accountable for their impact on society, and protecting freedom of speech.

The primary objectives and purposes of this nonprofit foundation shall be to develop an institution to teach and disseminate broad and encompassing educational material to the public for the benefit of both self-development and the community, including but not limited to, material relating to cultural performances and music, current affairs and news, do-it-yourself and self-development instruction, information technology, the arts and the sciences, the economy and economics, the environment, civil rights, war & peace, democracy, justice, freedom, truth, and the development of the human spirit, through the establishment of educational Internet Radio-TV station(s), Internet Classes, Internet publications and interactive websites, and traditional publications, public lectures, etc.
