Scarborough Women's Centre provides information, education and support to women in transition away from abuse, isolation and poverty, towards economic and emotional independence. The Centre was recognized with the City of Toronto Mayor's Community Safety Award for its work with abused women and their children. Women from many different backgrounds, enrich each other through their experiences. Here are some examples of what your donation can do: $50 - one woman builds her self confidence through an 8 week group $150 - 12 women learn to improve their health through a special workshop $200 -two volunteers train as mentors with women in transition $500.00 – one woman supported to achieve her goal to leave abuse through 3 months of counselling $1,000 - 20 women develop personal strategies for success through an 8 week course The Centre raises 1/2 of its income from fundraising activities. Halton Women's Place is a non-profit organization devoted to assisting abused women and their dependent children. We offer the following services at no charge: - Safe shelter that is strictly non-judgemental and supportive. - Comprehensive, non-residential and residential crisis counselling services to women and their dependent children. - 24-hour telephone counselling for women who just need to talk. - Referrals to other services as necessary. - Meals and emergency clothing. - Therapeutic and recreational activities to meet the needs of both pre-school and school-aged children. Shelter: • 25-bed emergency shelter for abused women and their children • Receive support, counselling and referrals to community services, such as legal aid, subsidized childcare, subsidized housing, welfare, language and job training, employment counselling • Child and Youth counsellors work with the children to address the effects of witnessing abuse Outreach: • crisis counselling and individual counselling for women and children, small group work for women and girls, drop-in services, transitional support, housing support, advocacy and much more

Ernestine's Women's Shelter provides a safe haven and a temporary home for women and their children fleeing domestic violence. We provide crisis intervention and a range of long-term support services, as well as unique and individualized service to each and every woman and child who passes through our doors.

The Yellowknife Women's Society operates the Centre for Northern Families, a family resource centre that provides services to women and their families who have been marginalized. The majority of families are First Nations, Inuit and Metis. The Centre for Northern Families strives to provide a broad range of programs that are delivered from a strengths-based perspective - one that recognizes the innate resiliency of women and families and their built-in strategies to handle the challenges of life. The Centre operates an emergency shelter that houses 23 women as well as a 3-bedroom trailer that serves as a transition house. Aside from the shelter, the Centre has an eviction prevention program, an early learning centre, a drop-in medical clinic, a prenatal nutrition program, a family support program, youth-led intiatives.

The Assaulted Women's Helpline (AWHL) offers a telephone crisis line to all women in Ontario who have experienced abuse. It provides crisis counselling, emotional support, safety planning, information and referrals for shelters, rape crisis centres, legal services and supports, community based supports, criminal justice supports and services, counsellors and therapists, support groups, and culturally and linguistically appropriate services. AWHL allows women to reach out for help free of charge in up to 154 languages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, assured of their anonymity and confidentiality. The Central Okanagan Emergency Shelter is a non profit Society, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our Society is a member of B.C. / Yukon Society of Transition Houses, a network of women's shelters, transition houses, and safe homes across B.C., yet we function as an independent organization. Our staff and volunteers provide a range of supportive services to women and children in the area boundaried by Oyama to the North and Peachland to the South. Our programs and services include: - Transition House - 2nd Stage Housing - Children Who Witness Abuse Program - Inside/Out Teen Anti-Violence Program - Support Groups and one-on one outreach counseling - Childcare and transportation for clients who attend support groups, court and appointments - KWS Thrift Store - Volunteer Program and community awareness about healthy relationships

Women and adolescent girls access our Women's Centre for information, one-to-one support and advocacy for a wide range of issues and concerns -- poverty, violence and abuse, sexual assault, mental and emotional health, affordable housing, parenting, social and familial relationships, separation and divorce, and women's rights and entitlements. We offer community-based programs that include a women's health clinic, a sexual assualt nurse examiner (SANE) program, support groups for adult survivors of sexual trauma, an in-school healthy relationships program for grade nine students, and a problem-solving skills development program for adolescent girls. We are working with our community on community health impact assessment, a poverty reduction strategy, food security and strengthening services for children and youth. We are involved at the provincial level with social policy advocacy focussed on poverty and violence against women.

The South Asian Women's Centre is a voluntary non-profit women's organization run by, and for South Asian Women. Our purpose is to increase self awareness of South Asian Women and to empower women to develop their social and cultural potential. The Centre is a place where South Asian Women of all backgrounds and ages can access a variety of programs and services. We strive to provide an environment where women can work together to promote their well-being. Our primary focus is to increase women’s awareness of themselves and assist them to develop their full potential by increasing their economic, social, and political standing in society. Through the provision of programs and services, the South Asian Women’s Centre strives to provide an environment where women can work together to promote their well being.

Stardale is a learning and healing center for aboriginal women and women of poverty. Developed by the Stardale Women's Group Inc. Foundation, the Center opened its doors for service in Melfort, in 1998, and serves the communities in Northern Saskatchewan.
