YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre

For more than 15 years, YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre has been engaging and empowering Calgary’s youth to make confident and positive choices surrounding some of the greatest challenges they shall ever face – namely substance abuse, online safety, domestic violence and bullying / gangs. We impart tools, strategies and resources through experiential learning exhibits at the Centre, interactive online resources, and engaging programming. Not only do our programs meet the learning objectives of the grade 6 Alberta Education curriculum, YouthLink also supports the Calgary Police Service – Crime Prevention and Reduction Continuum. CAMP CARMANGAY

Camp Carmangay does not offer a long term in residence program but rather focuses its energies towards reoccurring visits. We do enlist the staff of the various organizations that access our facility to participate in the Camp Carmangay experience thus creating an environment where staff and client can establish a rapport to the betterment of all involved. Supervisory staff arrives with their charges and are able to leave behind offices, walls, and robotic responses. Our environment is unprejudiced and promotes dialogue that is neither clinical nor forced. Our mission is to help combat mental health issues among Firefighters and First Responders. We want to be a beacon of hope during these difficult times that many of us face. Mental health issues and an alarming amount of suicides have become more of an issue among Firefighters and EMS Personnel (⚠️Most recently they have even begun outnumbering LODDs⚠️). By providing peer support (one-on-one conversation with another firefighter/first responder) and financial assistance for licensed counseling (we will find a counselor who fits you, that lives in your area, and help cover the cost of the first cycle of sessions), we hope to give our brothers and sisters a way to fight back and provide them with an understanding of what they are experiencing. The Fire Department's mission is to prevent the loss of life and property. To ensure a full service continuum, the John Howard Society has become heavily involved in partnerships with other organizations and expands those partnerships each year. TRAILS YOUTH INITIATIVES INC

We take these urban kids and bring them to our Lakeside wilderness location in Newmarket and offer them experiences that make them feel like part of a family. We help hundreds of kids develop practical skills, relevant knowledge and self-confidence. We concentrate on prevention rather than rehabilitation. In this way Trails builds trust and confidence and has a real influence on the direction of youths' lives.
