Soroptimist is dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in our local communities and throughout the world. Founded in 1921, Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) is an international organization for business and professional women who provide volunteer service to their communities. About 35,000 Soroptimists in 20 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community-based and international projects benefiting women and girls. SIA is part of Soroptimist International, which comprises almost 85,000 members in about 120 countries. The name Soroptimist means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best working to help other women to be their best. Soroptimist members belong to local clubs, which determine the focus of service to their communities. The Raleigh Club is focused on improving the economic independence of women and ending violence against women. In addition, Soroptimists participate in organization-wide programs that include the Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards, Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls, the Soroptimist Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence, the Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women, and the Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award. International projects have included partnerships with Women for Women International, and through Project SIerra, Hope and Homes for Children in Sierra Leone.

We are a fledgling Canadian charity whose mandate is to build and repair orphanages, schools and family homes for the poor and handicapped people of Cambodia. We are currently a small, three man operation possessing the right combination of skills, knowledge, local street-sense, and single minded determination to help the people of Cambodia. We want to improve living conditions through not only our building projects but also by teaching impoverished Cambodian youths the trades required to do it themselves. Carpenters 4 Cambodia is small, nimble and flexible. The Charities Directorate of Canada has granted us a sweeping scope of activities. Who are we? An advocacy group The fundamental mission of the Comite popular is to promote the social, economic, political and cultural rights of people living in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste neighborhood. The Comite popular focuses on urban development and housing rights. Urban development The committee members are particularly sensitive to urban development projects and intervene when necessary. Similarly, the committee is also planning urban proposals that reflect the aspirations of local people. Right to housing The committee provides a service of help and reference on the rights of tenants and struggle to increase the number of social housing (eg, develop cooperative housing projects). The mission of the organization is to render aid, assistance and information with regard to the rights of people living or having lived mental health when using the services of our company to allow individuals to become full citizens from the following values: social justice, democracy, respect, autonomy, equity and solidarity. Increase the skills of the person to defend their rights, facilitate access and use of existing remedies. Together people who have suffered similar injuries in order to initiate a process to restore their rights. Through various means, encourage them to change the practices of some services that do not respect human rights. The SRAADD advocates collaboration and coordination with other community organizations within certain spheres of action.
