Lung Cancer Canada

Lung Cancer Canada (LCC) is the only charity whose sole mission is to raise awareness, provide patient focused information and offer peer support to everyone touched by lung cancer. Founded in 2002 by caregivers and healthcare professionals who were concerned about the lack of information, treatment options and support, LCC has grown to be the nationally recognized source for reliable, non judgemental services and lung cancer information. Through the first Canadian patient focused Lung Cancer Resource Centre and Library, LCC offers a variety of resources for information and peer support free of charge to anyone in Canada. Governed by a volunteer Board of 12 Directors and supported by a Medical Advisory Committee, LCC is a volunteer driven registered charity. CANCER RESEARCH SOCIETY

Why Research? Why Give? Since the discovery of the human genome, cancer research has taken major strides forward. In the last twenty years, researchers have accumulated an impressive amount of data that are helping us to understand better the processes leading to cancer, as well as the means of preventing, controlling, and curing it. Cancer is a complex disease that shows up in more than 200 various forms. The scale of the task is monumental and the needs in research are enormous. Our understanding of the disease at a genetic and molecular level will allow us to save innumerable lives. Your donations help Canadian researchers, doctors and scientists advance in the fight against cancer. Together, we can support them and fund innovative projects that will make a difference in the discovery of new treatments and of a cure for this terrible disease. Help our researchers find a cure !

Breast Cancer Support Fund

The Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund is a national, volunteer driven charity providing financial support to breast cancer patients. There are two sides to every story about breast cancer. For the most part, the story is about pink ribbons and working towards a future where it doesn’t exist. But that ‘s just one side of the story…and it’s not ours. Ours is a story of breast cancer patients taking on debt to pay for food and shelter and medications - as well as other expenses. Ours is the all too common story of struggling, not to survive, but to afford to survive. But, it’s a story were here to change. The Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund provides short-term financial support for breast cancer patients… so they can focus, simply and solely, on fighting their disease.

Breast Cancer Action Quebec

Breast Cancer Action Montreal (BCAM) is a non-profit activist/advocacy group directed by women who have been sensitized to the trauma of breast cancer (affecting themselves or someone close to them) and who are committed — long-term — to erasing the disease. The focus of breast cancer research must move beyond its current emphasis on treatment to also embrace a serious search for the causes of the disease and its prevention. BCAM promotes and supports the adoption of the Precautionary Principle as a guideline for action. The Precautionary Principle is a safety-first premise that states that, when there are reasonable scientific grounds for believing a process or product may not be safe, even when cause-and-effect relationships are not fully understood, preventive action must be taken.

Helping Families Handle Cancer Foundation

We are a Not-For-Profit Organization specifically designed to aid families financially while they are dealing with cancer. Cancer creates an enormous strain on a family, both emotionally and financially. We aim to alleviate some of this stress by providing monetary support to those in need. Having a child with a life threatening illness such as cancer puts much additional stress on a marriage and this stress can also cause temporary or long term health issues for the parent(s). It is our hope that a family afflicted by cancer, can put their energy into caring for their child, instead of struggling to pay bills or ordinary living expenses. Helping Families Handle Cancer dedicates our time to single parents or families living on one income. Helping Families Handle Cancer assists families who have been referred by social workers from the hospital. We help with bills such as rent/mortgage, utilities, gas, groceries, and other living expenses.
