The Grey Bruce Children's Water Festival is a fun and educational event that gives grade four students hands-on learning about the importance of water resources in everyday life. Through over 45 activity centres, operated by volunteers, students in Grey and Bruce Counties will learn about the wise use, conservation and protection of water and water sources and the role it plays in the environment.

Mahone Bay is known throughout the world for its beautiful islands and shorelines. These islands provide: unique habitat to a variety of plants and animals, breathtaking natural landscapes, and traditional access for recreational activities. The islands of Mahone Bay are ecologically significant. These drumlin islands provide unique habitats to support a diversity of species. Yet there is increasing pressure on the ecological integrity of the islands from human activity and development. Such activities can adversely impact and degrade fragile coastal habitats and threaten native wildlife species. MICA has worked since 2003 to bring several of the islands under public ownership. And it has succeeded with the help of many individual donors, the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, and the Long Island Preservation Society. Ten islands are now available for public use in perpetuity.

WHAT WE DO: Western Sky protects critical watersheds in our region. We conserve vital habitats and provide managed public access for recreation and education. We also work with other agencies and organizations to further protect and enhance natural areas. We champion the conservation of environmentally sensitive lands that support the health of our watersheds.

Ryan’s Well grew from the commitment of one boy, Ryan Hreljac, who learned of the great need for clean water in his 1st grade class. With the support of friends, family and the community, Ryan raised enough money to build his first well at Angolo Primary School in Uganda in 1999. With your help, we can change the startling statistics presented by the global water and sanitation crisis. Since 2001, we have helped build over 700 wells and 900 latrines, bringing safe water and sanitation to over 750,000 people. Ryan’s story is compelling and empowers people of all ages – youth in particular – to take action and effect positive change in the world. Welcome! Thank you for your interest in Sky's the Limit Youth Organization. Sky’s the Limit provides refurbished laptop computers to under-resourced students who cannot otherwise afford them.

Computers For Kids was founded in March of 2004 with the vision of providing refurbished computer systems to children who may not otherwise have the chance to own one. Since then, the organization has helped one child at a time, growing to provide public computer learning centres as well as becoming a full service computer and electronics recycler. With the generous support and hard work of our many donors and volunteers, Computers For Kids has been able to open over 40 computer labs throughout Windsor/Essex County, recycle over 2 million pounds of e-waste and donate over 1,000 computers to date.

The Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society (REAPS) was established in October of 1989 with the mandate of fostering environmental stewardship in the Regional District of Fraser Fort George. Our main focus is on waste reduction, in which we are assisting the Regional District towards its goal in reducing the amount of waste going into the Prince George landfill by 50% plus. REAPS offers various forms of community outreach and public awareness, including programs in the schools, garden workshops, and other educational initiatives, where people can learn about composting, recycling, vermicomposting, organic gardening and many other environmental issues.

EcoSpark was formed as Citizens’ Environment Watch in 1996 by prominent scientists, including Dr. Ursula Franklin, in response to provincial budget cuts in environmental monitoring. We were incorporated in 2000 and gained charitable status in 2005. Since 1996, EcoSpark has connected youth and their communities with the scientific ideas and skills for environmental monitoring. We have a strong reputation in the areas of education, citizen science, community engagement and collaboration. To date, we have directly worked with over 55,000 youth and adults from across southern Ontario in over 20 watersheds.

Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada works in partnership with Cheetah Conservation Fund which is based in Namibia, Southern Africa. Namibia has the largest population of wild cheetahs in the world. Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada is a Canadian registered charity dedicated to the conservation of the wild cheetah throughout Africa and Asia.

EECOM does not duplicate services already offered by other national organization involved in EL. We provide a vehicle for existing national, provincial and local EL organizations and individuals from various sectors to share ideas, programs, research, resources, events and services. As a comprehensive network and national voice for environmental education, we strive to strengthen and improve EL in Canada. Our activities range from organizing vibrant annual conferences to disseminating research findings, recognizing excellence in environmental education and providing the only national link for Canadian educators with an interest in EL.
