We are focusing our conservation efforts on the Tambopata River Basin region of the Amazon Rainforest. Many scientists consider this area to be one of the world's richest ecosystems in terms of biodiversity. Furthermore, this area may have the last and final block of intact tropical rainforest land in the world.

Rare Breeds Canada envisions a future where Canadians are aware of their agricultural heritage and are involved in the preservation of endangered breeds of farm livestock and poultry, both nationally and internationally. This involvement will be through a broad spectrum of sustainable Canadian farms, which are economically and ecologically responsible, viable over the long term and will not deplete their resource base. In this vision, the gene pool will be preserved in the form of living animals as well as in gene banks.

BEST promotes changes to make our cities healthier environments and to enhance our quality of life. We envision communities where it is pleasant and convenient to walk, cycle and take transit; where people can safely mingle or play outside; and where cars are an option, not a necessity. BEST strives to provide imaginative and creative policy proposals in transportation and land use planning. BEST monitors development issues, conducts independent research and works with the media to promote intelligent debate and behavioural change. BEST works with educators, decision-makers, planning professionals, transportation advocates and the public to promote cutting-edge models for transportation and liveable communities. BEST is an independent, not for profit agency that advances the public interest. BEST welcomes and supports active citizen participation in the development of public policy and social values.
