Juventud para Cristo

YOUTH FOR CHRIST - GENERAL OVERVIEW The NGO Youth for Christ in Montevideo, Uruguay. Youth for Christ is an autonomous, non-profit organization. Since it began 40 years ago, Youth for Christ has worked actively to come along side marginalized population in Uruguay through formal programs. Our action is oriented primarily toward children, adolescents, young people and their families on three levels of intervention: - Personal (seeking holistic development) - Within the family and community (work to strengthen families, develop local networks, and encourage participation) - Political and structural (participate in constructing Social Policies and effective methods of intervention) In 1989, we began to work formally with the State and formed the Civil Society Organization Youth for Christ, Uruguay. Since then we have operated collectively with State organisms, International Organisms, and a wide variety of NGOs (non-government organizations) that work in the country. In Youth for Christ we run politically as a civil society organization. The General Assembly of partners is the sovereign body, which appoints a Board of Directors. This Board operates on an honorary basis and has a predetermined term of service. Youth for Christ works with a clear north, challenging but possible with Jesus Christ, which we express with simplicity in our mission: - Promote a culture in tune with the gospel and its values of justice, peace, solidarity, tolerance, love, and respect for the diversity. - For part of the Youth for Christ International family, adhering to the shared vision and mission of the organization.

Secours Catholique - Caritas France

Our purpose is to reduce poverty, bring hope and solidarity to poor communities or individuals in France and worldwide. We bring assistance to families, children and young people but also to the most vulnerable (homelesses, migrants, prisoners etc.). We fight against isolation, help them to find employement and we ensure their social reintegration. We provide emergency responses but also long term support, development aid and we work on the causes of poverty. The action of Secours Catholique finds all its meaning in a global vision of poverty which aims at restoring the human person's dignity and is part and parcel of sustainable development. To do so, six key principles guide this action, both in France and abroad: Promoting the place and words of people living in situations of poverty Making each person a main player of their own development Joining forces with people living in situations of poverty Acting for the development of the human person in all its aspects Acting on the causes of poverty and exclusion Arousing solidarity The actions of Secours Catholique are implemented by a network of local teams of volunteers integrated into the diocesan delegations and supported by the volunteers and employees of the national headquarters. On an international level, Secours Catholique acts in cooperation with its partners of the Caritas Internationalis network. Key figures of Secours Catholique: 100 diocesan or departmental delegations 4,000 local teams 65,000 volunteers 974 employees 2,174 reception centres 3 centres : Cite Saint-Pierre in Lourdes, Maison d'Abraham in Jerusalem, Cedre in Paris 18 housing centres managed by the Association des Cites of Secours Catholique 162 Caritas Internationalis partners 600,000 donors Every year Secours Catholique encounters almost 700,000 situations of poverty and receives 1.6 million people (860,000 adults and 740,000 children). This daily mission led in the field by the local teams and delegations, with the support of national headquarters, pursues three major objectives which aim at exceeding the distribution action and limited aid: Receiving to reply to the primary needs (supplying food and/or health care aid, proposing accommodation, establishing an exchange and a fraternal dialogue, etc) Supporting to restore social ties (bringing together people in difficulty with an aim to reinsertion, encouraging personal initiatives and collective projects, establishing a mutual support helper-receiver of help relationship, etc) Developing to strengthen solidarity (proposing long lasting solutions, establishing a follow-up over the long term, encouraging collective actions carried out by people in difficulty etc.)

EcoSwell

EcoSwell's mission is "To support the development of vulnerable communities in a sustainable way by implementing the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals". Our vision is A Future in Which People and Nature can Thrive in Unison. EcoSwell's strategy focuses on four key areas to implement this: - Positively impacting local natural environments - Positively impacting local communities - Developing sustainability leaders of the future - Building and developing a successful organisation to support the strategy EcoSwell's Volunteer Internship programme is central to the model, operating to drive the creation and implementation of sustainability projects, whilst transforming the Volunteer Interns into agents of change. The Volunteer Internship programme offers opportunities in six different areas: Renewable Energy, Reforestation and Conservation, NGO Management, Research, Public Health and Water and Sanitation. Since 2013, we have directly impacted the lives of over 5,000 people and indirected impacted 24,000 people in Lobitos, Talara, Piedritas and other surrounding villages. We are based in Lobitos, a small town in the Piura Region of Northern Peru. Lobitos, along with Peidritas and other towns where we work, have poor access to services, with frequent energy supply interruptions, very limited availability of clean water and non existent or unmaintained sewage systems that often leak, leading to open sewage pools. Some families have no access to these services at all. There is severe degradation of the dry forest ecosystem, which impacts farming and availability of local food supplies. We run an EcoHouse, where our volunteer interns stay, and our office is based. The location is not an accident. The four founders and directors are lifelong friends who came to Lobitos on a surfing trip in 2013. Loving the surf, but also seeing the poverty and lack of services in the town, they decided to help, and gave up jobs in the private sector to set up EcoSwell. Since then, the Volunteer Intern programme has been established and many projects have been achieved. More detail is set out in the Impact Report which is attached. During COVID, we have been working in partnership with local companies and our Volunteer Interns to deliver food parcels and medical supplies to those most in need. EcoSwell is now keen to expand its impact and is developing a number of projects which align with its strategy which will require funding to make them viable. Working together with Global Giving will enable EcoSwell to reach even more people in this area, and beyond - to deliver its Mission and get closer to its Vision of a Future in Which People and Nature can Thrive in Unison.
