For 37 years our community of professional artists has been teaching visual arts to hundreds of thousands of New York City children in under-served public schools, daycare centers, and community-based organizations.

Mission and Vision:  Chess in the Schools is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to improving academic performance and building self-esteem among inner-city public school children. Chess is a powerful teaching tool that can break through barriers to help the most disadvantaged students learn skills that translate into academic and lifelong success. Over the past two decades, we have seen how an effective chess education curriculum can change lives. But, learning chess is just the first stebut no one will dispute that the numbers are unsatisfactory. This appallingly low statistic is even lower for minority students and those who live in poverty. Many education experts agree that increasing the high school graduation rate starts with early intervention. Chess in the Schools believes that elementary school students need to develop basic analytical skills that lead to academic success throughout their school career. To develop these skills, Chess in the Schools teaches the complex game of chess to thousands of New York City public school children every year.

Communities In Schools champions the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life - communities in schools is a network of nonprofit organizations focused on improving student and school success by providing needed support and services to students and schools our ultimate goal is to see that all students are successful in school and complete their education at least through high schools.

We believe every child in America should have equal opportunity and access to a quality education. By partnering with teachers and students in under-resourced schools, we provide the support needed for teachers to teach and learners to learn.

Values-in-Action delivers character and social-emotional education programs that empower students and adults to build kinder, more respectful communities. Its work focuses on teaching values, providing tools and workshops, and promoting kindness initiatives in schools and communities.

To elevate student engagement, and expand the role of music in education by making purposeful, inclusive music a joyful and integral part of literacy, academic, and social-emotional learning throughout the school day, and beyond. We accomplish this by training and equipping inspired educators to integrate hands-on music and songs for learning with classroom instruction, activities, transitions, support services, and building classroom communities. ​Our unique, developmental approach nurtures creative and effective teaching practices through free weekly professional development (PD) courses in ukulele, guitar, and classroom implementation, as well as capacity-building co-teaching artist residencies, intensive workshops, in-service trainings, conference presentations, after school music clubs, and specialized services in adaptive music for inclusion.

Humans in the Loop is a hybrid between a non-profit foundation and a for-profit social enterprise which has been working for the past 6 years towards the inclusion of refugees and conflict-affected people in the AI supply chain, as well as in the digital work field, through upskilling and paid remote work opportunities. Our shared mission is to provide a diverse group of conflict-affected and displaced people with access to career development support, upskilling, and remote work opportunities to train and monitor AI systems. We are active across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, and our work related opportunities are primarily focused on communities affected by armed conflict and are distributed with priority to countries where other remote online job opportunities are unavailable as for example Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon. In our additional partner countries Turkey, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, and the DRC, with upcoming pilots in Kenya and Uganda, we concentrate on upskilling opportunities, equipping people with freelance related skills and then further supporting them in applying for remote work on platforms such as UpWork through our Mictrofreelancing self-paced course. Our foundation has its own training platform where we conduct trainings in English, Digital Skills, as well as data annotation skills and remote work, and everything is available online. We have developed our own proprietary modules on topics such as bias in AI and ethical AI, Cybersecurity when working online, and data annotation techniques, as well as professional courses which are either instructor-led or self-paced on topics such as Digital Marketing, Intro to Programming, Intro to Graphic Design, or Intro to Business Analytics. To date, more than 500 individuals have completed courses on our platform. Now, we want to develop our course offerings further by developing new courses on generative AI skills and real-time monitoring of AI systems, performing red team testing on AI systems, and providing feedback for reinforcement learning. Many of our trainees are already working for our social enterprise as data annotators, working on projects related to image labelling, data collection, and real-time monitoring and edge case handling of AI systems. To date, we have provided paid remote employment to more than 1,100 people. Our goal is to ensure that they progress further in their careers in the AI field and to provide them with opportunities to access further employment on freelancing platforms, or with other employers. We have partnered before with Upwork's "Opportunity Unlimited" program in order to introduce them to online freelancing, and we also have a small-scale career counselling program. Now, our goal is to expand these career development programs in order to help our graduates join the workforce of the future and contribute to making AI systems more inclusive and mitigate harmful biases.

Join us to fight Famine Mission Famine is one of the most common evils in our communities because of natural disasters, conflicts, unstable economic situations, and the lack of fundamentals in management and self-reliance principles. The goal is to support communities by training them on small projects in the processing, production, and conservation of food products. Strategies Food for All Program Based on local realities, we identify communities of different strata of our populations in the grip of hunger, living in rural areas and some in urban areas and help them to take charge of themselves by efficiently exploiting natural resources at their disposal. With our partners who are experts in the field, we provide basic training, provide production tools such as watering cans, seeds, etc. Beneficiaries commit to perpetuate this culture in their families and commit to contributing with resources such as land for gardening, time, and availability to learn and share knowledge on agricultural techniques they receive from our program. Education ________________________________________ Mission We help people from disadvantaged social strata to acquire basic and practical trainings for their personal, collective development, and Self-reliance. Strategies Professional Training: In partnership with Local professional training centers, we provide short-terms practical trainings in the following areas: - Sewing Skills - Masonry & Construction Skills - Plumbing Skills - Cooking Skills - Agriculture & Farming Skills - Welding Skills Literacy: With proven technicians and partners working in the field of education, we organize French literacy classes for women and children first. Adults in need are also considered. Scholarship: In partnership with local orphan's supporting structures, we help pay school fees for orphans and other children in real need. Understanding that we are the main responsible for the environment in which we live. The Lord's Hands NGO with its vast network of volunteers recognize the impact that each community participant can make in improving conditions and environment of their community. The Lord's Hands NGO initiates projects and partners with institutions or groups working in community & environmental improvement. Without any form of race, color, ethnicity, or religious discrimination we participate in a various range of Community projects including: Strategies - Food delivery to the elderly people and orphans. - Orphanage, Elderly Houses or a public hospital Cleaning or Rehabilitation. - Game activities for disadvantaged children. - Collect baby clothes and supplies to donate to new parents. - Free Art Courses, (Music & Dance). - Cleaning or unblocking of road of general interest. - Participating in a tree planting and awareness campaign on environment protection. PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT Emergency Responses NGO Partnerships Emergency Responses Becoming inevitable, natural disasters are more and more frequent in our communities, creating enormous damage. Our mission is that whenever one occurs within our reach, that we provide assistance and relief to the victims. It has been reported that on average, humanitarian crises are more complex than at any time in the last 15 years, and last nearly three years longer than they used to. Conflict, migration, climate change and now the unexpected pandemic (COVID-19) are the key trends driving these crises. Critical Emergency Responses to Address: - Providing the basics (Soap, Sanitizers, masks etc.) - Reinforce Sanitation to minimize infection As they arise in our area of activities, Emergency responses will be posted and best approaches shared on our website and social media pages Strategies In partnership with local institutions, we identify and quantify needs to find a more effective approach to addressing the emergency. We mobilize volunteers, collect donations in kind and in cash depending on the type of disaster and work closely with the competent structures to relieve the affected communities. We also recognize the challenge being faced by International organizations in implementing projects in our region. Founded in 1983, the mission of Writers in the Schools (WITS) is to engage children in the joy and power of reading and writing. WITS was founded through the University of Houston's renowned creative writing program to bring some of our nation's most talented writers into school and community classrooms to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children. The WITS program is an effective force for educational change, integrating arts and education to ignite a love of learning in more than 400,000 children and their teachers since its founding. WITS leads an international movement for creative learning, helping children and teachers across the world explore literacy in creative ways.
