Livingstone College is a private historically black college that is secured by a strong commitment to quality instruction, academic excellence and student success. Teach For America exists to address the problem of the opportunity gap; our mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation's most promising future leaders in the effort. In the immediate term, we serve as a critical source of talented and committed teachers, called corps members, who compensate for the additional challenges their students face to provide them with the educational opportunities they deserve. Our corps members' positive impact on students' academic achievement provides tangible evidence that it is possible for all students to succeed when they get the right support. At the same time, helping their students succeed intensifies corps members' sense of urgency and gives them a deep grounding in what it will take to ensure that all students in our nation have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. Over the long run, we produce an alumni force with the talent, conviction, insight, and experience to effect the fundamental changes necessary to realize our vision of educational opportunity for all. Our alumni work directly for change at every level of our education system, while also exerting pressure for positive change from outside the system:* continuing to serve as teachers, school principals, and district administrators* taking the pressure off schools by working to remediate the challenges of poverty by working in careers supporting economic development, public health, social services, and law* pioneering innovations in public service as social entrepreneurs* shaping our priorities and policies as advocates, policy advisers, elected officials, and influencers in other sectors.

The mission of VanderCook College of Music is to enrich the lives of present and future generations through the preparation of teachers in the instrumental, choral, and general music disciplines.  VanderCook’s broad-based curriculum is designed to prepare teachers with strong character, skill in the process of teaching, and respect for the essential role of music in our culture.

The Foundation exist to promote and inspire reading and literacy, while honoring the legacy and memory of a teacher by the name of Joseph Riley Armstead, III, His passion for the success of children and reading is carried forward through book donations to children and scholarships offered in his name.

The College of William and Mary, a public university in Williamsburg, Virginia, is the second oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Established in 1693 by British royal charter, and public servants. Now, in its fourth century, it continues this tradition of excellence by combining the best features of an undergraduate college with the opportunities offered by a modern research university. Its moderate size, dedicated faculty, and distinctive history give William and Mary a unique character among public institutions, and create a learning environment that fosters close interaction among students and teachers.

The Jennie Goas Silverman Foundation was created with love by some of Jennie's closest friends to honor her spirit, sparkle and brilliance. Jennie was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in June of 2016 and fought a hard battle with this devastating disease until she passed away on May 20, 2017. Jennie was a special person who impacted the lives of the people she touched. First and foremost she was a daughter, sister, wife and friend, and she always took those roles seriously. Next, she was a teacher, a high school math teacher in the CPS system. She was beautiful inside and out, she was generous, she was brilliant, she was humble and she was kind. These qualities have inspired us to create this foundation and continue to help her spirit live on through philanthropy. The Jennie Goas Silverman Foundations fundraising efforts have a dual approach: 1) Raise funds to award a qualified senior year student(s) in the communities Jennie taught with a scholarship to attend a 4-year college. 2) Raise funds and awareness for Triple Negative Breast Cancer research. Through our mission we hope to give back to the community Jennie lived and worked in and continue to fight in her honor to find a cure for triple negative breast cancer.

AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID can transform schools and districts so that students, particularly those students who are first generation college-goers, will be successful in college and a career. AVID believes that the most effective way to help schools is to improve the quality of their teachers’ instruction and school leadership. This builds sustainability, accountability, hope, and positive morale directly into the fabric of a school and ultimately an entire school district. And a marked improvement in a community’s schools creates ripples of benefit for the community. In these trying economic times, it is vital to involve the community in the success of its schools, and AVID is structured and delivered in such a way that the family created in the AVID classroom can be extended to a school, a district and a community of hope for the success of students.
