The Karen are an ethnic group residing in Eastern Burma and North-western Thailand who face economic, social and language barriers. There are estimated to be 3 to 7 million Karen living in Burma/Thailand and 400 Karen refugees resettled in Ottawa. KLEO supports and empowers the Karen through programs created in consultation with them. Programs in Thailand include: Jen's House, a residence providing financial and emotional support for Karen children from remote areas allowing them to attend school; support at refugee camps, including provision of school uniforms; assistance in mountain villages, including support to a women's weaving project. Programs in Ottawa include: a Karen English Summer school, where Karen students improve their English and learn about Karen culture; a Karen Community Farm, which allows the Karen to use skills brought from Burma to restart their lives; Citizenship classes, where assistance is provided for obtaining citizenship; and other general support.

Guelph Youth Singers (GYS), now in its 22nd season, has become a high profile representative of the City of Guelph in the field of choral music. Founded in 1991, this organization was formed to provide children and youth with an opportunity to experience a professional level of musicianship. The three treble choirs in the organization are: Choir I, a training choir of children aged 6 and up; Choir II, a more advanced training choir of children and youth aged 9 and up; and Choir III, a choir for singers who have superior singing and music reading skills, aged 11 and up. A Chamber Choir has been incorporated as a part of Choir III, and is an advanced ensemble for young women aged 16 and up. GYS also offers a seasonal boys’ choir. Weekly instruction includes vocal technique, theory and sight singing. Workshops by guest clinicians in drama, movement and voice are also offer. GYS performs up to five concerts per season as well as, festival, corporate, community and guest performances.

To combat post traumatic stress; bring healing to our military community (active duty, reserves and national guard, veterans, and their families) through pastoral counseling, and peer mentoring, both on an individual basis, and in group settings. Raise awareness of the increasing needs of the military community through public events, media outlets, social media, service organizations, and churches. Networking government agencies, service organizations, churches and private sector businesses into a united “corps of compassion”, to bring their combined resources together to meet the needs of the military community on a personal and individual/family level. Our brave men and women in uniform understand duty, honor, and sacrifice. Many have returned home with both the visible scars, and the unseen wounds of war. to give back to those who have given of themselves so selflessly PTSD Foundation of America is a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring to our combat veterans and their families with post traumatic stress. Many warriors are coming home with visible wounds; countless others are coming home with scars we cannot see, wounded souls from witnessing the horrors of war over and over again – PTSD. We feel it is our duty as Americans to help these mighty warriors and their families adjust and find their new normal. It is our turn to step up with other excellent existing community organizations and help those that have fought and sacrificed so much for us. We are faith-based in our approach and have a great history of providing hope and healing to those experiencing the unseen wounds of war. We offer a safe place where no one is judged, everyone is supported, and everything a warrior says or is revealed is confidential within the group. We would like the opportunity to train and/or help form groups within your community for warriors & their families to reach out to. Our teams consist of veterans, active and reserve service members as well as civilians that have a heart for the military and their families. We have active, reserve and/or veterans from every war up to world war ii that are coming to our groups. Warriors that we have worked with have learned how to heal and cope with ptsd to find their “new normal” and are now are reaching out to other warriors to let them know that there is hope in the darkness and they are not alone. please give us the opportunity to show you what we can do to provide hope for the warriors in darkness and the families who love and support them. to increase public awareness of post traumatic stress establishing relationships within the faith based community and secular organizations to facilitate support systems for our military community; locating and identifying churches currently ministering to, or are willing to consider beginning ministries to our military community workshops and counseling manuals are provided for both the warrior and their families. by assisting the spouses, children and other family members, we aid in the healing process of the individual with ptsd. Too often other treatment options fail to appropriately address the impact of ptsd on the family; training is available through regional workshops or through video. training should be undertaken by pastors, staff, counselors and lay-members who might interact in any counseling program; keeping the issue before the media and general public through regular press releases and email newsletters, as well as psa’s, websites and facebook

Black Girls Vote 4 H E R (commonly “Black Girls Vote” or BGV) is a nonpartisan organization that engages, educates, and empowers Black women to use their vote and civic voice to influence public policy and improve community outcomes. Their work focuses on voter education, registration and civic engagement targeted especially to Black women and young women of color.

AMBERHEART Breast Cancer Foundation - a registered charity focused on creating breast health education and cancer prevention programs related to early detection and increasing awareness of breast cancer. Amberheart centers its attention on endorsing healthy ways of living, pro-health habits and identifying women who, because of risk factors, have a high probability to develop breast cancer. Its activities are mainly addressed to young women and those who do not participate in the government supported breast cancer prevention program. The activities of the organization are addressed to: - women, who for any reasons do not participate in the mammography screening program and - younger women who are not covered by it - breast cancer survivors - adolescent women Besides the educational materials such as brochures, videos and flash presentations, we offer courses in breast cancer prevention and detection methods for women and health care specialists

Running Start is a nonpartisan nonprofit that trains young women to run for political office.

The NCWC Education fund works closely with the National Council of Women of Canada, which represents over 750,000 Canadians through its 24 Nationally Organized Affiliated Societies, Provincial Councils in 6 Provinces and 15 Local Councils of Women.
