The East Hants Community Learning Association (EHCLA) believes in a stronger, connected community and through individualized programming we are opening the doors to education and transportation, helping create a more prosperous, and proud community. With a hands on learning approach, and the availability of transportation, we are empowering individuals to live with a sense of freedom and confidence. VIDEA facilitates communication, cooperation and strategic networking among Canadian groups working for global justice, peace and sustainable development; supports community to community connections with rural parts of Africa; creates globally focused learning resources; promotes fair trade initiatives; and works in partnership with African organizations such as the WHEAT Trust in South Africa, Women for Change in Zambia, and Mpambo, the African Multiversity, in Uganda, to support development initiatives focused on women’s economic empowerment, community development and education. VIDEA’s Breakthrough for Africa project supports the creation at a community level of sustaining linkages between Canadian and African communities. The Kelowna-Zambia Partnership and the Nelson Kaoma Alliance are part of VIDEA’s Breakthrough for Africa project.

The Mission of SERUDS is to promote socio, economic, health, education and culture through participatory approach focusing children, adolescents and women, who are being deprived and oppressed in the society. VIsion: The vision of SERUDS is to mitigate the sufferings, turmoil, trails & tribulations of deprived and downtrodden sections of the society to ensure equity, empowerment and justice.

LifeTime Projects organises humanitarian and ecological projects in Bolivia, Guatemala, England and Cameroon. Our projects are all set up with local partner organizations in order to help build upon ongoing projects designed by, and for local people to help and empower vulnerable children, women and families and/or to protect local wildlife.

The Scholarship Foundation was established in 1993 as a registered charitable organization and renamed the Lampe Foundation in 2010. It aims to support the education of men and women in our community and to encourage continuation of studies. We believe that educating people enables them to contribute meaningfully to our society, both in their chosen career and their family life.

The Belinda Stronach Foundation (TBSF) creates partnerships with individuals,non-governmental organizations, businesses small and large,as well as other foundations whose goals are to work within and beyond our borders to confront challenges and create opportunities. Mission of VOICE Trust is to increase conviction for the economically - socially - educationally disadvantaged children, women/men farmers, employed youth, Disabled Persons and other Weaker Sections that nature centric ways in life empowers and to join in ecological biodiversity enhancement, protection of environmental resources and empowerments in education, employment and sustainability spheres.

Safeplan Uganda is a youth-founded and focused organization addressing the challenges youth face in finding employment opportunities in Uganda. The organization's main purpose "is empowering young people through skills and awareness to enhance their potential in becoming responsible citizens" - in short, create sustainable jobs for young people. The organization achieves its purpose through five broad program areas: Health, Environmental Awareness, Education, Gender, and ICT (Information and Communications Technology). Mission Statement We are committed to the enhancement of holistic care and assist urban dwellers and particularly rural youth and women, their local leaders and communities through networking and partnership. VISION To ensure a sound and social economically productive society where young people and other vulnerable citizens live and deliver to their full potential. Overall Goal An enlighten and empower communities working together to build a sustainable future for all Ugandan people Description of the activities The organization is strongly community oriented; it actively engages with youths, women, community elders and church leaders to help identify youths below 30 years of age, targeting nearly all school dropouts, for its programs. Safeplan Uganda is geared towards "supplementing what the government is doing for the local youth" as it recognizes that the government is not able to fully support what the "community youth need and deserve". Safeplan's understanding that "there is a need to help the youth help themselves" has led to its programming in livelihoods skills training. There are three programs at Safeplan currently: 1 - Technical skills training (carpentry and tailoring) 2 - Energy-efficient cook stoves Promoting renewable energy products across the district 3 - Budongo Women Bee Enterprise (BUWOBE) (the Prize-winning activity) Reports & Updates 1- Technical skills training-up to 50 youths have been training in Carpentry and tailoring since 2017 with the merger resources in the organization with community support. The youths are trained locally and supported to acquire national certificate from the Directorate of Industrial Training accredited certifying body by the government of Uganda. 2- Promotion of energy efficient cooking technology-more than 500 solar lantern have been sold since 2017, 12,000 cook stoves sold to community to reduce fuel consumption. More than 1000 women trained in construction of energy cooking technology in refugee settlement camps in northern Uganda Arua District. 3-Budongo women Bee enterprise-(BUWOBE) the two time award winning project has reached more than 300 women with bee keeping skills since 2014. To date the project is empowering 30 more youths and women with skills in bee keeping, business and leadership skills in Nyantonzi village. This particular project has been made possible by YouthPower learning program PROUDLY support by the United State Agency for International Development. (USAID)

This inspiring interaction happens across all the diverse academic programs offered at Dalhousie University and results in direct collaboration between students and teachers on exciting projects. These projects range from cutting-edge research and innovation to creative expression, all of which allows students the opportunity to contribute energy and excitement to one of Canada's most vibrant cities.

Amarok Society is a Canadian charity that goes into the world's most forbidding slums to teach mothers to teach children too poor for school. Daily, each mother goes from her Amarok Society Womens' School to teach at least 5 children from her neighbourhood in her own home. Amarok Society teaches literacy in Bangla, English and numeracy as well as health and hygiene and child care and development. The wonderful women of our Mothers of Intention Projects overcome a lifetime of bitter discouragement to find inspiration and hope in the promise that the children will be able to work their way out of their terrible poverty and debilitating ignorance. This is a new, effective, sustainable and cost-efficient method of addressing a very serious and dangerous problem that has resisted improvement in the past. Teach a Mother, Change the World

Since our establishment in 1984, SIBAT envisions a just and sovereign society that upholds genuine development through people-based science & technology. SIBAT commits to develop, promote and popularize the application of appropriate technologies towards attaining village-level sustainable development in poor communities. As such, SIBAT have gained significant breakthroughs in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, genetic conservation and water systems development. By the end of 2022, SIBAT's goals are: 1. Self-reliant and resilient communities that have adopted appropriate technologies and can adapt to the effects of climate change. 2. Institutionalized structures and mechanisms that support the appropriate technology (AT) efforts of SIBAT and partner poor communities. SIBAT helps enhance the poor people's opportunities to enjoy, and capabilities to assert and demand for, their basic rights. SIBAT assures everyone in the community equal opportunities from and access to appropriate technology, resources and benefits with particular attention given to the poor farmers, women and indigenous peoples. SIBAT addresses community problems, through appropriate technology interventions, that are determined from a comprehensive and integrated perspective. Technological innovation and competence. SIBAT enhances the practice of innovation, development of knowledge and mastery of skills. SIBAT upholds quality standards in the application of science and technology for the people. Care for health and environment. SIBAT works for the conservation and management of the environment and gives due attention to the promotion of good health and well-being of the people. Gender consciousness. SIBAT integrates and promotes gender equality in its programs and projects, and in each individual's work, actions and language.
