Founded in 1915, the Near East Foundation's mission is to help build more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive communities in the Middle East and Africa through education, governance, and economic development initiatives. NEF is an operational NGO with projects in seven countries-Armenia, Sudan, Senegal, Jordan, Lebanon, Mali, Morocco, Palestinian Territories and Egypt-where we work to directly improve the lives of tens of thousands of vulnerable people through programs in peacebuilding, civic engagement, education, sustainable agriculture, and business development. Amigos de Iracambi (Iracambi) works to restore and protect Brazil’s Atlantic Forest while supporting resilient local livelihoods. Its programs combine community-based reforestation (planting and nurturing native trees), watershed protection, environmental education, volunteer and student engagement, and applied research to strengthen local economies and conserve biodiversity.

LEA works to protect and restore the high water quality of lakes, ponds, rivers, streams and wetlands in western Maine and to maintain the integrity of their watersheds. They do this through year‑round water monitoring and science, invasive‑species prevention and control, land conservation and public education and advocacy aimed at reducing threats to lake health.

Our Mission is to protect bonobos (Pan paniscus), preserve their tropical rainforest habitat, and empower local communities in the Congo Basin. By working with local Congolese people through cooperative conservation and community development programs, and by shaping national and international policy, the Bonobo Conservation Initiative (BCI) is establishing new protected areas and leading efforts to safeguard bonobos wherever they are found. The Bonobo Peace Forest (BPF) is the guiding vision of BCI: a connected network of community-based reserves and conservation concessions, supported by sustainable development. The Peace Forest provides protection for bonobos and other species in the Congo rainforest, while at the same time ensuring a better life for the people who share this precious land.
