A group of citizens came together in the summer of 2008, bound by a shared commitment to the restoration of one of the largest impacted estuaries in New England: the Herring River Salt Marsh. Friends of Herring River was launched formally at the State of the Wellfleet Harbor Conference on November 15, 2008 and is a tax exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. All contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law. The purpose of the Friends of Herring River is to promote education, research and public awareness of the Herring River estuary as one of critical environmental concern, to preserve the native environmental integrity of the river and estuary, to ensure habitat protection and retention of the native biological diversity and productivity of the river and estuary, to retain and enhance public access to the river and estuary, to preserve natural and historic sites, and to promote public awareness. Friends of Herring River is pursuing this mission by undertaking the following activities: Informing and educating the public on the progress and key issues in order to build community-wide support for the project. Implementing outreach activities to ensure timely and effective public involvement in the restoration project. Supporting restoration objectives and worthy scientific, environmental, historical, educational, and recreational programs by fundraising, volunteering, and other useful activities. Friends of Herring River are actively engaged in the planning for the implementation of the project, fundraising, public outreach, and education as well as conducting the herring run count each spring.

Atlantic Marine Conservation Society’s (AMCS) mission is to promote marine conservation through action. This is accomplished through education, research, and response. AMCS is the lead large whale response organization in New York State. As a non-profit organization, the society conducts research projects within the marine environment, and responds to whales, porpoises, dolphins, and sea turtles in the northeast region, and conducts public and private education programs across Long Island into New York City. Partnering with other organizations within the stranding network, AMCS continues to build critical event response capabilities through the Specially Trained Animal Response Team (START).

Reefsave's mission is to do scientific research, education, and training to implement strategies that protect Western Atlantic and Caribbean reefs from loss of marine life, through practical implementations that create economic benefits for practices that promote self-sustaining long term reef health.

Rainforest Partnership works with Indigenous and local rainforest communities (primarily in the Ecuadorian Amazon and Peruvian Andes) to protect and regenerate standing tropical rainforests by building sustainable livelihoods, supporting conservation and forest management, conducting biodiversity research, and delivering environmental education and global engagement.

The Lake Anna Civic Association works to preserve and protect the cleanliness, beauty, and safe recreational use of Lake Anna and its watershed by organizing community advocacy, education, and volunteer programs (including regular water-quality monitoring and harmful-algae-bloom remediation efforts).

The Conservancy works to preserve and restore the lands and waterways of the Geneva Lake region by protecting open space and important habitats, educating residents and property owners, and promoting conservation-minded land and water use practices to ensure the area’s natural resources thrive for current and future generations.

Mission: Through education, fundraising, and other proper activities, to promote the protection and enhancement of the water quality of East Pond and to preserve its ecological, economic, recreational, and aesthetic value. To work with members and other interested parties to monitor water quality, to promote responsible land-use practices, and to maintain the integrity of the watershed ecology of East Pond. To encourage, facilitate and disseminate scientific research regarding East Pond. To publish a newsletter that focuses on information related to the lake protection efforts and developments on East Pond as well as on other lakes and ponds in Maine. To assist the work of charitable, educational, literary, or scientific organizations. To make distributions to nonexempt organizations and governmental bodies conditioned upon the fund being used for specific projects.

Pa’Ti Mar works to restore and protect San Juan’s coral reefs by operating a land‑based (ex‑situ) coral nursery that cultivates endangered reef species for transplant back to damaged reef sites. They combine direct restoration with community and youth education programs to rebuild reef habitat and raise local awareness.

The mission of the Chesapeake Bay Trust is to promote increased public awareness and public participation in the restoration and protection of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers and streams. They work to support our mission of increased stewardship through grant programs, special initiatives, and partnerships that support environmental education, on-the-ground restoration, and community engagement activities.

The Little Sebago Lake Association is a Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Corporation that owns and operates Hopkins Dam. Our mission is to protect, restore, and improve our lake’s water quality and fragile ecosystem. We will create and nurture a community of lake stewards, educate users on lake safety, and always be mindful that human needs must be balanced with the needs of the natural environment.

The Friends of Messalonskee, a nonprofit volunteer organization, is dedicated to the preservation of Messalonskee Lake, also know as Snow Pond. Our purpose is to educate the public and promote the responsible use of the lake through conducting projects, programs, and activities. These include supporting wildlife preservation, informing the public of the results of water quality monitoring, teaching and promoting the practices which protect the water quality of the lake ecosystem, and encouraging safe recreational use of the lake.

The mission of Sycamore Land Trust is to preserve the beauty, health, and diversity of southern Indiana's natural landscapes through strategic land conservation and environmental education. Vision: Sycamore Land Trust envisions a future in which southern Indiana has diverse and abundant habitat for native plants and animals, as well as clean air and water, working lands that are productive and sustainable, and people who embrace the connection between a healthy environment and our quality of life.
