The Regroupement pour la Trisomie 21 (RT21) is an non-profit organization that represents hundreds of families in Montreal and the province of Quebec affected by Down Syndrome. For over 25 years, the organization has committed to offering direct services of support and personal accompaniment, as well as creating activities that encourage our members to reach their full potential. We accompany parents from the moment they receive a diagnosis, offering information and support. Our early intervention programme (physiotherapy, occupational therapy) is offered to children aged 0-2 that are on waiting lists for public services. Countless activities are organised for our families, such as the Christmas party, the outing to the sugar shack and many others. Finally, the RT21 also organizes fundraising events that build awareness, such as the THREE, 2, 1, GO! Race in August, which gather a great number of our partners from different backgrounds.
As the provincial office of the LDAA, our programs ans services are directed toward province wide concerns. We provide support and coordination to our chapters and informaiton and advice to individuals in the province. A primary role is to ensure public awareness of learning disabilities. The programs and services of the LDAA fall into 6 categories; public awareness and education, advocacy, chapter development, resource development, scholarships, and collaboration and coordination with other related groups. Direct community service and programming is provided by our chapters.
