The Tanzania Health and Education Mission is a California non-profit, charitable organization established in 2007 in order to support the local health clinics and schools in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. Our mission is to deliver, directly to the people of Tanzania, goods and services to improve their health and education. This includes: 1 - provide medicines and vitamins for rural dispensaries inTanzania, 2 - direct payment of scholarships for student, trainees and nursery school teachers in Tanzania, and 3 - purchase and distribution of food in three rural communities in Tanzania.

In 2005 our sister organization, Village Schools International, opened our first 3 schools, built 22 classrooms, received 13 missionary teachers from America, and enrolled 832 students. Today, we have twenty-six schools in villages in Tanzania which are providing an education to nearly 7300 students, and we are currently partnering with people in 188 villages, working together to try to build an additional 138 classrooms this year and to open at least two more of the six new schools under construction.

Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC is certified by the Province of B.C. as an independent Group 1 School and licensed through Vancouver Coastal Health as a preschool, group child care and out of school care, providing a family centred approach to auditory - oral education for deaf and hard-of-hearing children from infancy to early primary years. Our itinerant teachers provide services to children and youth in independent schools throughout BC.Auditory-Verbal Therapy and itinerant teaching services are available via distance technology to many parts of the province. Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC works in partnership with the BC Early Hearing Program, the province's early hearing screening and intervention program.

Nations Cry is a humanitarian organization focused on improving education in the developing world. Building schools, improving curriculum and training teachers are just a few of the ways that Nations Cry is helping to build a better future for children in West Africa and Central America. Nations Cry uses extreme financial discretion, spending money only when required and where it is most effective. Our Financial Promise is that 100% of the donations received are used exclusively for humanitarian projects. Our goal is to create a legacy for future generations by empowering those in need through long-term, sustainable solutions. Our goal is to leave a legacy for future generations by growing the endowment fund, becoming more effective, and reaching more people every year.

Yasodhara Ashram is a vibrant spiritual community where people of all ages work together to expand their awareness and to live the teachings of yoga. Open to people from all religious traditions, what we teach and practice promotes values of selfless service, compassion and devotion. Our goal is to bring quality into daily life and Light to the world. We train teachers and foster the growth of affiliated centres. We also publish books, CDs and DVDs of timeless wisdom (www.timeless.org). Founded in 1963 by Swami Radha, the Ashram is a registered educational institution with sister charities in Canada (Friends of Radha Foundation) and the USA (Association for the Development of Human Potential). The Ashram also maintains close relationships with other charities founded on Swami Radha's teachings in the United Kingom and Austrailia.

Aspire has a staff of over 60 including multidisciplinary teams of Psychologists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Consultants, Physiotherapists, Special Education Teachers, and Child Development Facilitators working with children ages 2.5 to 12. Kids Can Fly is a registered charity that supports early learning and parenting. We were founded in 2001. The mandate of Kids Can Fly is to help ALL children maximize their potential. We base what we do on the research of the late Dr. Fraser Mustard. This foundation of this research is that a baby’s brain is only 20% wired at birth and their experiences (or lack thereof) during the first six years of life set the stage for lifelong learning, health and well being. We also believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers and therefore we strive to help provide nurturing and learning for parents so they can do the very best job possible. Kids Can Fly likes to be considered a catalyst to help bring about change, fill gaps as they appear and to advocate for children and families.

Our school and day programs are developed to best suit the abilities and cognitive levels of our students and clients responding to each individual’s specialized needs. Elves is a specialized environment that serves children, youth and adults with the highest needs. Throughout our 40 years of being established Elves has enhanced its programs and services to best serve the expanding demographic of disabled persons. We serve children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism, Down Syndrome as well as those with speech delays, and PT or OT needs. Our youth and adult clients have severe developmental disabilities and are medically fragile. The Rainbow Society has been making dreams come true for Alberta children living with chronic or life-threatening illness since 1986. We were the first group of its kind in Canada. We differ from other wish granting organizations in that our mandate allows us to grant wishes to children who are living with chronic illness, as well as those with life-threatening illness. Wishes: · Must be in the best interest of the child. This is determined through consultation with the family and the child’s physician. · Include the immediate family, whenever possible. · Are granted quietly and without publicity. · Are not solicited. We work strictly on a referral basis. · Wish referrals can be made by the families themselves, a friend, relative, teacher or by someone from within the medical community. · Wish referrals cannot be made anonymously since we will not proceed without the prior knowledge and approval of the family involved.

Since 1989, Kids Help Phone has been Canada’s only national phone and online counselling service for youth. It is free, anonymous and confidential. Professional counsellors are available any time of the day or night, 365 days a year, to help young people deal with concerns large or small. As a community-based charity who receives no core government funding, Kids Help Phone relies strictly on individual and corporate donations to fund these vital services. Children and teens contact Kids Help Phone about every issue imaginable – from school, dating and family problems, to depression, abuse and suicide. For many children in rural areas, Kids Help Phone is the only way they can access professional counsellors in an atmosphere of safety and confidentiality. Many of the kids who contact us cannot or will not approach parents or teachers in their community for fear of reprisals and embarrassment.

Team Canada Healing Hands Inc is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the provision of rehabilitative education, training, and care in areas of need. Volunteers are medical professionals and support personnel who work year long fundraising and organizing projects that typically culminate in 7-14 day intensive team missions internationally. During each mission, volunteers both teach and provide care in rehabilitation clinics, prosthetic and orthotic clinics, hospitals and orphanages, as well as teach courses in rehabilitative therapy, public health, primary care, and specialized medical topics. Volunteers have included: physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, pediatricians, family doctors, surgeons, nurses, PT, OT, SLP, massage therapists, P&O, pedorthists, engineers, wheelchair techs, teachers, administrators, business professionals, computer technologists, medical students and residents, nursing students.

Education - Our Kenyan Kids supports promising students who would otherwise be unable to attend high school. Children with special needs, including developmental delays and deafness are supported in special schools. Young women are supplied with monthly sanitary protection so that they may stay in school full time. Training - the rent and teacher's salary are paid at a tailoring school in a Nairobi slum so that young people have the opportunity to learn an income generating skill. Humanitarian Aid - The salaries of eight care givers at a Nairobi orphanage are paid to provide loving support for the children. A second orphanage for infants awaiting adoption receives regular support through an adopt-a-cot program. Food and other necessities are provided for a third institution. Health Care - selenium supplements are provided free for many people with HIV AIDS, particularly mothers and grandmothers, resulting in improvement of health and energy.
