Compassion House Foundation operates Sorrentino's Compassion House a haven for women travelling to Edmonton for breast cancer treatment. Sorrentino's Compassion House is a safe, caring and affordable place to stay. Guests find comfort and support in the company of others who are facing similar challenges. Sorrentino's Compassion House offers 14 comfortable, private guest suites and shared facilities including a fully equipped kitchen, exercise room, library, resource room, hobby room and internet access.

Brad and Vicki Margus founded the A-T Children's Project when two of their young sons were diagnosed with A-T in 1993. Ataxia-telangiectasia is a genetic disease that attacks in early childhood. It progressively affects coordination, predisposes children to lethal cancers, and severely compromises their immune systems. Children with A-T are usually unable to walk by the age of ten and rarely live beyond their teens. By supporting and coordinating aggressive research, we hope to give them a chance to live and to enjoy life's possibilities.

The Grand River Hospital Foundation supports the financial needs of the Grand River Hospital, which is comprised of the Freeport and Kitchener-Waterloo Health Centres, and the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. All sites are located in Kitchener, Ontario. Like the great tradition of caring that has long been established at Grand River Hospital, we are fortunate to have a community with a rich tradition of support. For more than 100 years, patients have been treated with the highest quality care at the Hospital, thanks in part to community contributions.

The Cumberland Health Care Foundation primarily supports the regional acute care facility for Cumberland County (the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre)as well as funding County-wide programs in support of the 4 smaller hospitals. Funding of programs and services is in alignment with the Cumberland Health Authority to ensure maximum usage of donated dollars. Special funds have been set up for the Palliative Care Unit, Cumberland Cancer Assistance, Mental Health, the Holly Spicer Healing Garden, the Teddy Bear Pediatrics Funds, Equipment Fund, Endowment Fund as well as others.

Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation is a registered charitable organization which includes Hamilton General Hospital Foundation, Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation, McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation, St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation and all of their associated programs. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada was established in 1955 to fund Canadian researchers who focus on leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin's disease. Over the years we have funded hundreds of prominent researchers who have made significant progress in developing better, less invasive treatments in their quest to find permanent cures. Research has dramatically increased the survival rates of people stricken with blood-related cancers. Yet leukemia remains the number one disease-killer of children under 19 and alarmingly the incidence of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in adults has doubled since 1973. Our mission to find better treatments and ultimately cures, continues.

The BC Lung Association provides patient, public and professional education programs, advocates for lung health issues and provides support for scientific research into lung health, lung disease and ways lung health can be improved. Primary targets are asthma, emphysema, lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis and pulmonary fibrosis. Since 1985, Hospice of Wichita Falls has offered a special kind of care to patients and families in 12 North Texas counties (within approximately 50-60 miles of Wichita Falls) who are coping with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. Pain control and symptom management is the focus of hospice care. A team of physicians, nurses, social workers, aides, clergy and volunteers, along with support staff, work together to ensure the patient's physical, emotional and spiritual comfort. Most often, hospice care is provided in the patient's own home. When patients cannot safely remain at home, inpatient hospice care is provided in the W. Erle and Emma White Hospice Center.

Jocelyn Hutton was a young woman who grew up in Winnipeg. While attending High School her life took an unexpected turn, she developed cancer at the age of 17. Jocelyn began to share with others that death was not to be feared. Jocelyn’s desire was to live each day fully and to die supported by family, friends and her community. Surrounded by the love that gave her courage, she was the inspiration for the establishment of western Canada’s first freestanding hospice. After her death, Jocelyn’s parents, Bill and Miriam Hutton founded Jocelyn House in 1985 with the desire that their family home be used as a hospice. There is no life span to the spirit of hope — each day Jocelyn’s dream comes true for terminally-ill people unable to be at home and not wishing to be in a hospital setting. At Jocelyn House there is an opportunity to live inside the dream.

Artists in Healthcare, Manitoba (AIHM)believes that music and the arts are essential for a healthy life. We have a vision to integrate the arts, in all their forms to healthcare to benefit patients, families and staff. Research demonstrates that healing occurs best when the whole person; body, mind and spirit is engaged. Patients say the music provides an oasis from stress and anxiety, as evidenced by comments such as: " I just received a cancer diagnosis, but for the 10 minutes I was sitting here, listening to you play, I forgot." Our programming promotes healing and preventative health by reducing stress in chemotherapy treatment, palliative care, dialysis, geriatric rehab, and on units and waiting areas throughout the hospitals. We believe the universal language of art speaks powerfully in healthcare settings, and transforms the environment in unique and healing ways.
