AMBERHEART Breast Cancer Foundation - a registered charity focused on creating breast health education and cancer prevention programs related to early detection and increasing awareness of breast cancer. Amberheart centers its attention on endorsing healthy ways of living, pro-health habits and identifying women who, because of risk factors, have a high probability to develop breast cancer. Its activities are mainly addressed to young women and those who do not participate in the government supported breast cancer prevention program. The activities of the organization are addressed to: - women, who for any reasons do not participate in the mammography screening program and - younger women who are not covered by it - breast cancer survivors - adolescent women Besides the educational materials such as brochures, videos and flash presentations, we offer courses in breast cancer prevention and detection methods for women and health care specialists

PREVENTION IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SPREAD OF HIV & AIDS! HIV/AIDS is a preventable disease that has reached epidemic proportions. New reported cases of HIV/AIDS remain high throughout New Brunswick and across Canada, and are increasing, particularly among women, injection drug users, young people and other vulnerable communities. Though challenging to reach, these vulnerable populations continue to be the focus of much of AIDS New Brunswick's efforts in supporting education and prevention resources and initiatives for New Brunswickers. Helping people to cope and improve their quality of life guides the delivery of all our support services for people living with HIV/AIDS and their informal and formal caregivers. The past thirty years of protecting children, ages newborn through thirteen years, in crisis situations has made one thing perfectly clear: our job will never be done and there will always be more we can do. This mindset has led us to making great strides in preventing child abuse and neglect by extending case management services to the whole family when a child is admitted into our emergency shelter. Our Emergency Shelter services are essential in keeping children safe and secure while opening up a doorway to address the underlying issues that lead to child abuse and neglect. Critical case management (parenting classes, referrals to financial management classes and substance abuse programs, and a collaborative network of agencies and community resources) helps us to alleviate the immediate crisis situation while focusing on eliminating the cause of that situation.  Prevention is a key component to ending the violent cycle of child abuse and neglect. Our STEP Parenting program prevents child abuse and neglect by teaching caregivers valuable parenting skills and connecting them to critical community resources. Teen parents gain job skills, education, and parenting and life skills through our No Kidding: Straight Talk from Teen Parents program.

Freedom Village is North America’s Premier Home for Troubled Teens. The 150-acre campus is located just north of Watkins Glen in Western New York State. Freedom Village, founded in 1981 is an “intensive care ward” for America’s youth and is the largest home of its kind. Thousands of young people from across America, Canada, and around the world, once labeled “hopeless” and “unreachable,” have turned their lives around through this Christian based program. Freedom Village is, at any given time, home to 150 to 200 young people, ages 14-21, who need and want help with various aspects of their lives. Many have been involved in drug and alcohol abuse, have attempted suicide, or lived in abusive home situations including physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Some have turned to lives of crime after their families and society abandoned them.

The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester's mission is to to provide support to those coping with a breast cancer diagnosis, to make education and advocacy a priority, and to empower women and men to participate fully in decisions relating to breast cancer. Our focus is on breast and gynecological cancer support, education and advocacy. We also fund breast cancer research that focuses on cause (initiation), prevention, and halting progression of disease (metastasis).
