Since 1951 the government and people of Israel have looked to AKIM to provide care, advocacy, support and education to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. AKIM works in all corners of Israel and is the largest provider of programs and services for people with an intellectual disability and their families. Since 1962, Canadian Friends of AKIM – Promoting the Inclusion of Israeli Children and Adults with Intellectual Disabilities, has operated projects in Israel for the benefit of more than 35,000 people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Designated as a Center of Excellence in New York State, we have become a magnet organization where individuals from around the region and world travel to receive highly advanced care and access to groundbreaking research for a myriad of complex conditions. We offer residential, medical, clinical, and special education programs to over 1,200 children, adults, and families annually

The Calgary Food Bank is a food distribution hub. We provide quality emergency food directly to Calgarians to meet their individual needs (prenatal, homeless, households with children, etc). We also collect food donations for distribution to other charities (including the Mustard Seed, the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary, the Salvation Army and women’s shelters).

WALKSacramento works with transportation and land use planners, elected officials and community groups to create safe, walkable environments for all citizens and particularly for children, seniors, the disabled and low-income individuals. WALKSacramento works to incorporate pedestrian access into transportation and development decisions, to increase funding for pedestrian infrastructure, and to adopt and implement pedestrian master plans for local communities.

Alive is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization that provides compassionate end-of-life care, palliative care, bereavement support and community education.
