The mission of the American Diabetes Association (the Association) is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin.  Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life.  The cause of diabetes continues to elude the medical community, although research has shown that both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.

The American Brain Foundation supports vital research and education to discover causes, improved treatments, and cures for brain and other nervous system diseases.  

Our mission is to facilitate, advocate and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.

The West African Health Foundation (WAHF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization formed by a group of physicians concerned with the poor health and nutritional status of the people, particularly children and women, of the West African sub-region.

ABOUT ACMI African Christian Mission International (ACMI) is an indigenous African outreach ministry of Christian Church International (CCI) networking with partners for evangelism, discipleship and humanitarian aid to the world. Christian Church International (CCI) formerly ACCEA (African Christian Church of East Africa) was registered with the Kenyan government in 1964. ACMI, formerly ACM, was founded by Bishop Dr. Henry Mulandi in 1992, when he saw the need of reaching out in highschools, colleges and universities with the gospel of Christ. This was done through preaching in open-air meetings (crusades) all over the country and planting churches in different villages in collaboration with the local churches. He also saw the need of reaching out to the refugees by ministering to their spiritual, emotional and physical needs through provision of God's word, food and clothing.

The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is the largest grassroots network dedicated to fighting Parkinson’s disease (PD) and works tirelessly to help the approximately one million with PD in the United States live life to the fullest in the face of this chronic, neurological disorder.

Founded in 1914, the American Sexual Health Association (ASHA) promotes the sexual health of individuals, families and communities by advocating sound policies and practices and educating the public, professionals and policy makers, in order to foster healthy behaviors and relationships and prevent adverse sexual health outcomes.

Infrastructure projects will be chosen from applications received from East African communities and monitored by a committee of volunteer CanAssist trustees. Communities will be invited to submit application for funding based on their needs and be responsible for regular reporting during and on completion of the adopted project. Our work supports all members of a community rather than focusing on individuals or programmes. ( i.e. We build classrooms rather than giving school fees for a selected child. We provide clinic equipment, not funds for salaries or programmes at a hospital.)
