Friends of Patients at the NIH, formerly Friends of the Clinical Center, provides financial, logistical and social support to patients while they are receiving groundbreaking and life-saving treatments at the NIH Clinical Research Center. We cover unmet needs so that patients can focus on recovery, healing and fulfilling their crucial role partnering with NIH researchers in advancing knowledge, discoveries and breakthroughs.
TO FUND MEDICAL RESEARCH FOR TREATMENT AND PUBLIC EDUCATION
Brain tumors are now the leading cause of cancer deaths of children and young adults. The emotional and financial devastation it causes to families is unacceptable. The cure will eventually be found. We intend to speed up the process by speeding up the exchange of information - networking with the researchers, patient groups and other nonprofits; raising money for research; advocating for change; hosting conferences and running research projects. Until that happens, we will help support families dealing with brain tumors by educating them on the choices they have to make, help find options for them, and even help them get access to the treatments they need with both our advocacy program and our copayment assistance program
The organization focuses on preventing childhood tooth decay by promoting education and distribution of xylitol‑based oral‑care products and training. It aims to reduce dental disease in underserved families (with special attention to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Down Syndrome) through education, partnerships, and providing toothpaste/toothbrushes to those in need.
