Giving Austin Labor Support (GALS) provides free doula and perinatal-childcare support to improve birth outcomes and ensure no one births alone. Asniya recruits medical and allied-health students as volunteers (“Asniya interns”) to deliver hands-on health and medical education on American Indian reservations, with the goals of improving preventive health knowledge, reducing disparities (including mental-health/suicide-prevention work), and inspiring reservation youth toward careers in the health sciences. The program also gives participating interns culturally grounded clinical experience to build long‑term community health capacity.
