Anam Cara Stables provides a safe and healing place that gives people the freedom to be authentic and present, and discover their own solutions utilizing equine assisted psychotherapy and other healing modalities. Anam Cara Stables, Inc., a non-profit corporation, shall exist for the purpose to educate, enhance, and encourage the mental, physical, and spiritual health of clients and communities suffering from trauma; and to promote social welfare for the betterment of the community and the individuals who have experienced the effects of trauma. This is accomplished by implementing the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning evidence-based practice model and other healing modalities.
NCJW|LA is a section of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms. NCJW|LA serves more than 12,000 individuals through our Community Mental Health and Supportive Services, Scholarships, Talkline, Youth Educational Programs and Services, Back 2 School Store, intern training programs and our clothing assistance projects. NCJW|LA social justice programs provide education and legislative advocacy on issues that affect and impact women, children, and families in the areas of children’s rights, economic justice, healthcare, human trafficking, immigration reform, reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and gender-related violence.
Our mission statement is to empower combat veterans with PTSD to regain their freedom and independence by partnering them with professionally trained and specifically matched service dogs at no charge. Our motto is "Serving our Veterans who served us all."
The mission of House in the Woods, Military & Family Retreat is to create a therapeutic, recreational, and educational retreat for our nation's U.S. armed forces and their families, using outdoor wilderness activities in Maine and other natural habitats, to help participants share common challenges related to their service and sacrifice in protecting our nation's freedom and democratic ideals.
