Golden House provides safety and support for victims of domestic violence while leading community efforts to end domestic abuse. Golden House is a secure place where victims of domestic abuse find compassionate, knowledgeable advocates offering confidential, individualized help. Golden House is a comprehensive domestic violence agency that serves individuals and families of ALL ages, genders, races, sexual orientation, and gender expression, with counseling, temporary shelter, 24-Hour help, legal assistance (restraining and harassment order filing assistance), support groups, housing options, prevention education and more.

Lazarus House's mission is to offer guests connected to St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia and western rural Kane County, Illinois, who are homeless or in need, hope for the future by providing hospitality, food, safe shelter, and education – tools for life. We strive to make certain that all who enter feel the love of Jesus. Goals are to: 1)help the homeless return to independent living with the skills and habits needed for long-term success and 2)offer services and referrals to help those in need in our community in order to prevent homelessness and support the well being of individuals and their families.

The mission of the Center for Safety & Change is to develop strategies to end gender-based violence and provide shelter and supportive services that empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse and other crimes. Center for Safety & Change provides 24/7, trauma-informed services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes. Services include a hotline, shelter, legal help, therapy, counseling, and pet safety. Advocates offer support at hospitals, court, and with social services. The Center also runs prevention programs in schools and the community. All services are free, confidential, multilingual, and available in person or virtually.

Micah's Place is a Certified Domestic Violence Center and the only one serving Nassau County Florida. Our mission is to provide prevention and intervention services to victims of domestic violence; and to provide education within our community to effect change in behavior and attitudes relating to domestic violence. We offer a 24-hour helpline survivors can call or text, advocacy, individual counseling, help with basic needs, pro-bono legal assistance from on-staff attorney, financial literacy education and assistance, and support groups to victims of domestic violence. All of our services are provided without judgment and are free and confidential.

Our hope is to one day live in a world where sexual assault no longer exists; where there are no more victims, friends and families suffering in its wake. This is our hope. This is what inspires our efforts. The Anacortes Family Center's mission is to serve homeless women, children and families in crisis by providing shelter in addition to comprehensive transformational services to achieve long lasting personal success and self-sufficiency, and to prevent homelessness in our community through advocacy and by providing affordable housing options. AFC's unique approach has led to the distinction of being one of the most successful shelters in the state at helping clients achieve self-sufficiency. Last year AFC served the most vulnerable clients* and over 80% of our clients graduated successfully - finding a permanent place to call home and a job to support the household.*Measured with the objective tool used by all homeless programs called the “Vulnerability index”.

SafePlace works for societal change to prevent sexual and domestic violence while offering crisis intervention, education, and long-term advocacy services. SafePlace was formed in October 1981, by the merger of Rape Relief and the Women’s Shelter Services, two programs operated by the YWCA since 1973 and 1976, respectively. Since our inception, we have been both a dual domestic violence and sexual assault provider agency in Thurston County. We are a private non-profit organization. Our sexual assault program is one of the oldest in the nation. A board of directors, staff, and over 90 trained volunteers operate the agency. Our general purpose is to empower survivors to make decisions about their lives, by offering supportive services, resources and information.

La Casa de las Madres was founded in 1976 by a group of Bay Area women, most of whom had experienced domestic violence as victims or as daughters of abused mothers. Deeply motivated by the death of her mother, one of the founders set forth to establish a place where women could seek refuge from domestic violence; where they would be safe, cared for, and allowed to regain physical strength and self-esteem. Their refuge would be named La Casa de las Madres--The Home of the Mothers. Today, La Casa offers emergency shelter to women and their children while providing advocacy, counseling, family-based services and referrals. Our downtown office houses our two 24-hour crisis lines, Drop-In Counseling Center, Teen Intervention and Prevention Program, and Community Education and Outreach Program as well as our administration.

My Sister’s Place (MSP) seeks to end domestic violence and empower survivors to live healthy, independent lives free from violence. For over 40 years, MSP has been an innovator in changing lives by providing DC’s first hotline and first domestic violence shelter, and most recently, first Batterer Intervention group. As DC’s oldest domestic violence shelter, we have served as a cornerstone of the District’s response to this pressing public health issue since 1979, and our impact on DC’s community remains as strong as ever. MSP is unique in offering a full continuum of care from emergency shelter through transitional-to-permanent housing. Our experienced team of case managers and residential counselors provides clinical counseling, case management, and comprehensive services to empower survivors to recover and thrive. MSP also provides training, case consultation, and advocacy to engage communities to prevent violence and abuse. Our goal is to end domestic violence, and empower everyone to build healthy lives and relationships.

Founded in 1902, the mission of the SPCA of Tompkins County is to protect companion animals. We are the first open-admission, no-kill shelter in the country dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation. not only do we steward animals, but the environment as well. our “green” shelter, known as the Dorothy and Roy Park Pet Adoption Center, was LEED- Certified Silver in 2004—the first shelter to achieve this status in the united States. our best practices in shelter operations and programs serve as effective examples for other shelters across the country striving to achieve no-kill status. We strive to foster a community in which the need for sheltering abandoned, neglected and homeless and abused animals is diminished; and we work ceaselessly to place medically and behaviorally healthy, treatable or manageable animals in loving homes. We provide leadership in cruelty investigation initiatives, educational outreach, and pet population control. We promote responsible pet stewardship by providing behavioral issues-counseling as needed for adopted animals and their owners, as well as behavior training for shelter dogs to increase adoption rates and ultimately nurture and enhance the human-animal bond.

“Transform families by providing help, hope, and healing for mothers and their children to live responsible drug-free lives.” Created from the vision of a small group of women in the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale in 1995, The Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center has grown from one group home, housing five mothers and six children, to a beautiful 5.5 acre campus in Pembroke Pines with the capacity to serve over sixty families. In addition, through satellite campuses, we are increasing our capacity to serve many more. Our ultimate goals are the removal of barriers for women entering addiction treatment, the prevention of foster care placement for their children, and an end to the cycle of addiction and abuse for families. Since we began in 1995, Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center has helped to reunify over 850 families and has provided the intensive services necessary to stop the cycle of family dysfunction and substance addiction for over 1500 children. One of the largest barriers to entry for mothers seeking treatment is child placement. At the center we focus on supporting both the mother and child(ren). We reduce or eliminate family risk factors by promoting a positive sense of self, delivering individual and group counseling services, providing peer group activities, maintaining well defined structure and offering many opportunities for support. Most importantly, we strive to stop the cycle of addiction by providing the most important protective factor of all, a healthy parent intervening on behalf of the child(ren) during their early development. For nearly 20 years we have done amazing work. Yet, prescription pain killers and heroin use is on the rise, despite the efforts of many. The negative effects to our community are compounded when the addict is a mother and her children are at risk of neglect and abuse. Often, children who are prenatally exposed to drugs or alcohol are also at a high risk for emotional and behavioral challenges. Without intervention, these children are much more likely to become addicts themselves, some in their early teens.

WomenSafe serves people across the gender spectrum who experience sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking Hotline Services – Through a 24-hour hotline, we provide crisis intervention, problem-solving assistance, safety planning and emotional support. Advocacy Services – We offer information and referrals to all community resources over the phone and in person. Advocates offer support, advocacy and referrals related to the Relief from Abuse Order, family and criminal court processes when it’s related to domestic and sexual violence. Advocates will accompany survivors to the hospital to offer support and advocacy when receiving medical attention following an act of sexual or domestic violence. Systems Advocacy – We work to change the multi-system barriers that support violence against women. Our goal is to create systems that support safety, dignity and wholeness in the lives of everyone in our community. We do this through individual advocacy, community collaboration and participation in statewide policy making. Underserved Communities Outreach – WomenSafe provides targeted outreach to the smaller, less populated towns throughout Addison County and Rochester. This includes outreach to migrant workers and other immigrants. Language Line interpretation services are available for hotline callers with limited English proficiency. Language Line provides interpreters for 170+ languages. WomenSafe can also arrange for in-person interpreters. Our advocacy services are free and confidential, regardless of citizenship status. Support Groups – We offer drop-in support groups for survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence. Childcare is available with advanced notice. Call our hotline for specific days and times or for more information. Supervised Visitation & Monitored Exchanges – When a partner separates from an abusive partner, it is often a time of increased risk for the parent and children. The Supervised Visitation Program @ WomenSafe (The SVP) provides increased safety for children and parents during supervised visitation and monitored exchanges. Community Education – We offer trainings, presentations and awareness activities on topics related to domestic and sexual violence to schools, community groups, businesses and other organizations and professions. Sample topics are: healthy relationships, sexual harassment versus flirting, effects of domestic violence on children, and child sexual abuse prevention.
