RISC is dedicated to promoting the safety of freelance journalists in combat zones. We provide first aid training to freelance journalists working in all media - photography, print and broadcast - to mitigate the many threats they face to their physical security while on the job. Our name reflects our hope that freelance reporters trained in first aid will be able to treat not only their own wounds in the field, but also those of their colleagues, until they are able to reach professional medical care. It is our goal to make first aid training and preparedness an industry norm, like having a flak jacket and helmet, for freelance journalists working in combat zones.

The Volunteers in Police Service are local residents who support the Cicero Police Department by volunteering non-sworn assistance — for example, residential security checks, traffic/event control, neighborhood patrols, and community outreach/education. Volunteers receive classroom and on‑the‑job training to safely assist the department and strengthen community–police relations.

To create and support lifetime opportunities in the community for individuals with disabilities and their families to reach their fullest potential by providing advocacy, education, employment, residential, and recreational services to enhance quality of life.

The CSDEA advocates transformational policies that lead to peacebuilding, health and good governance through advocacy, capacity development, reflective dialogue and research. The CSDEA also embraces a multi-stakeholder approach while networking with organizations that share similar values at the local, sub-regional, continental and global levels.
