The Institution's purpose, as conceived by Andrew Carnegie, is to "encourage, in the broadest and most liberal manner, investigation, research, and discovery, and the application of knowledge to the improvement of mankind." The Carnegie Institution is devoted to addressing fundamental questions on the frontiers of biology, earth sciences, and astronomy that its trustees and scientists consider to be among the most significant in science. Its funds are used to support projects at its own research departments and to conduct a program of advanced education at the predoctoral and postdoctoral levels. It also offers programs for elementary school teachers and children in Washington, DC., Baltimore, MD and Pasadena, CA.

The Federation of American Scientists promotes a more secure world by developing and advancing solutions to important science and technology security problems. To maximize the impact of these solutions, FAS educates the public and policy makers, promotes transparency, and carries out research and analysis.

CFC International is committed to the advancement of treatment, research, and understanding of CFC Syndrome. Our mission is improve the quality of life for individuals with CFC Syndrome through family and caregiver support, research, and education. With more than 450 individuals diagnosed worldwide, CFC International dedicates each and every dollar to the support of family medical conferences, research initiatives, and advocacy for families.

VirginiaFIRST is the Virginia-based affiliate of US FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a non-profit international educational mentoring organization. VirginiaFIRST promotes FIRST's mission to: * inspire young people to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting team-based, mentor-based programs that build skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); * promote the spirit of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship; * foster well-rounded life capabilities; * help today's youth acquire the knowledge and skills needed to compete in the technologically-driven global economy; * encourage students (ages 6-18) to pursue studies in the sciences, engineering and technology at the college, graduate and post-graduate levels leading to careers in related technical fields. THE CAPTAIN PAUL WATSON FOUNDATION has been established to promote and further the legacy of Captain Paul Watson. To focus on the protection and conservation of the Ocean through direct intervention supported by education, documentation, research activities and partnerships with other NGOs, governments and international institutions like the United Nations. It will be made up of a small team that will prevent any future interference or dilution of the overall vision of Paul's legacy by keeping management and bureaucracy minimal.

CompUDopt was founded in 2007 with the belief that every child deserves equal access to education and opportunity. We realized that the life cycle of a computer in a corporate environment is typically less than three years. Usually sent to landfill or shelved, these lightly used tools can become a dream come true for a young learner ready to broaden their skills and knowledge, as well as an opportunity to demonstrate good environmental stewardship by our partner organizations. Our programs serve to eliminate limited access to computers by placing them directly in the homes of applicants, as well as fostering and supporting education for the youth of Texas. Each of our programs facilitates growth in technical and digital literacy skills, which are increasingly essential for success in education. In addition, students gain an understanding of the importance of education and the breadth of the impact technology has across industries including science, engineering, and many others.
