The Guilford Center for Children provides year-round education for children of working parents from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We involve children in independent and collaborative tasks that help them reach their intellectual, creative, moral, and physical potential while working cooperatively with others. We nurture the curiosity and thirst for knowledge inherent in all young children. Our curriculum is designed to allow our students to gain confidence in their personal strength, an awareness of their individual gifts, and the desire to share their joy with others, both in and outside the classroom. We believe every child needs and deserves a safe, secure, and stimulating environment. We believe this desired environment begins with a positive, nurturing relationship between child and teacher. We believe that quality child care and early childhood development includes communicating and working with the family through education, support and parent involvement. Our curriculum is based on the whole child: his/her social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development. We see each child as a unique individual and plan our programs according to the child’s strengths, needs, interests and developmental skills. We believe in fostering cultural awareness and pride through anti-bias curriculum and activities. We strive to keep our services available and affordable to all families. Our mission is to continue to create an enhanced, quality early and primary education program that emphasizes the arts and cultural experiences. Children With Hair Loss is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that provides human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults facing medically-related hair loss. When a child's hair is lost due to Cancer treatments, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, Burns, etc., the painful effects are far deeper than just cosmetic. Each year, the number of children requesting our hair replacements increases and with your support, we can continue to increase the number of children we are able to help in the future! Chisholm Services for Children is the only non-profit organization in Central Nova Scotia offering a long-term care residential program, which specializes in early intervention. Chisholm is dedicated to guiding children 12 and younger who face severe adverse circumstances like neglect and abuse, to a realization of self-worth. Chisholm helps children develop skills and capacities to function successfully in a community setting and grow as healthy, stable individuals.

The mission of the Children Are Us Foundation is to provide "lifelong education and lifelong care" by offering lifelong education for individuals with intellectual disabilities and ensuring lifelong care within the community. We believe that intellectual disabilities are just a part of life's challenges, and with the love, care, and support of parents, society, and the government, we can overcome all obstacles. Additionally, through professional vocational rehabilitation and specialized job guidance, we aim to improve the intellectual and physical abilities of individuals with disabilities, enhance their work capabilities, promote self-reliance, and facilitate their integration into social services.

An estimated 800,000 children in the European Union are separated from an imprisoned parent on any given day. Yet few people are aware of the impact that a parent's incarceration can have on a child. Children separated from a parent in prison frequently experience multiple emotional and social difficulties associated with their parent's incarceration. They not only have to cope with the parent's absence and the disruption of the child-parent bond, but are also vulnerable to social exclusion, financial hardship, discrimination and shame. Children of Prisoners Europe (COPE) is a pan-European network which encourages innovative perspectives and practice to ensure that the rights of these children (as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the European Convention on Human Rights) are fully respected and that action is taken to secure their well-being and healthy development. The network is a membership-based organisation made up of non-governmental organisations and individuals across Europe and beyond, linked by a staff team based at its French headquarters. Raising awareness among child-related agencies, prison services and policymakers to the specific needs of children of prisoners and promoting initiatives that take these needs into account, the organisation is seeking to: - Expand programmes that support the child-parent relationship and help minimise violence for children with an imprisoned parent; - Introduce the child's perspective throughout the criminal justice process, from arrest to resettlement; - Foster cross-sectoral collaboration among public and private agencies involved in supporting and making decisions about children of prisoners; - Obtain better information and greater visibility for prisoners' children and influence policy at the national, European and international level on their behalf; - Promote the exchange of initiatives, expertise and good practice for children with imprisoned parents; - Enhance the competence of professionals within the field. Working to foster the promotion and provision of policies, frameworks and meaningful action on behalf of children affected by parental incarceration to protect their development and well-being, our aim is to ease the burden of the imprisonment of a parent on the child.
