BOONE BROTHERS INC

“I was hungry and you fed me…” —Jesus in Matthew 25:35 Our namesake is from Kentucky's native son and premier outdoorsman, Daniel Boone. He once stated that his biggest achievement in life, and he had many, was baptizing each of his 10 children. At Boone Brothers we believe and we are bothered by the reality that--HUNGRY children become ANGRY adults. When basic needs are not met in childhood, they can lead to detrimental behavior patterns in adulthood. By feeding children, we want to diminish the likelihood of teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, incarceration rates, and suicide in our communities. The Boone Brothers App provides healthy Biblical content to nourish adults. It's our primary communications tool to guide hunters towards the bullseye of feeding hungry children across the state of Kentucky. Through a partnership with Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, we process and package venison (deer meat) into a delicious form of jerky (Boone Bites) that are protein rich and do not need to be refrigerated. The Boone Bites are dropped off at local elementary schools and distributed by the teachers who understand the nutritional challenges of the students in their classrooms. Deer are an abundant natural resource and the herd needs to be managed to strike a balance between food for people and food for wildlife. So this ministry benefits children and farmers primarily, but also keeps the deer population from dying of starvation and sickness. To put it in perspective--Every deer you donate generates 150-200 well-packaged pieces of deer jerky. If you and your friends each donate two deer each season, we can feed most of the hungry children in our state.

Fundacja im. Doktora Piotra Janaszka PODAJ DALEJ/ Doctor Piotr Janaszek PAY IT FORWARD Foundation

Imagine a world in which people with disabilities do not feel like an obstacle, they work, have their passions, decide about themselves and are happy. Doctor Piotr Janaszek Pay It Forward Foundation helps to build such a world. From 2004 we have provided rehabilitation and other forms of assistance to people with disabilities. Every year we offer aid to over 200 people who want to learn independence despite disability. They want their dreams to come true and have a happy life. In special training apartments, people after accidents learn how to live in wheelchairs. During sport activities, they improve fitness and motivation. They prepare for work during trainings because they do not want to live on public assistance. They develop artistic talents and even started their own theater. Assistants help children to do homework, and with adults they do shopping, cook together, learn to move around the city. Disabled children from all over Poland come to our Little Explorers Camp to learn independence. We are happy to share our knowledge with other organizations. Specialists from all over Poland come to the Foundation to learn modern methods of therapy through art. We give parents of disabled children training in coping with the hardships of everyday life and help them to organize better, so they have also time for themselves. We meet with children and young people in schools to inform them about disabilities and teach them how to avoid accidents. Teachers from all over Poland use our lesson plans. We prepare volunteers to work with the disabled. We train officials and professional drivers, including those in public transport in Konin. Thanks to our audits more and more buildings are accessible to people with disabilities.

We have worked in all provinces within the country and have successfully implemented programmes for corporates and funders such as UNICEF and the MrPrice Foundation. Further beneficiaries of Sportstec Foundation Trust, are members of a rural community in the KwaZulu Natal Province called Geluksburg . In order to improve the living conditions for children and youth in this rural area the objective of our programme is to create Rural Community Sport Networks (RCSN). The focus of the RCSN zones is on the opportunity for the youth in rural communities to participate in sport, physical activity and personal development through life skill messaging, thereby giving them an alternative to social ills and risky behaviour and developing a sense of purpose for their future. The programme includes a holistic approach to development and is aligned to Government objectives for rural development, youth development, education, social development, as well as health and sport and recreation.

Mundo de Talentos A.C.

Mission Mundo de Talentos adopts as its mission to contribute to the creation of a generation of young adolescents with social consciousness, who are motivated to continue studying and to contribute to society according to their own abilities. Vision We envision the future with young Mexicans who are motivated and well informed about study and professional related opportunities that exist for them and who they feel safe to make the decisions that affect their own future development. Overall objective The three-year project of Mundo de Talentos contributes to the personal and professional development of Mexican youth, by strengthening their self-esteem, improving their sense of belonging in society, fostering their sense of gender equity and supporting them to make informed decisions about their own future. Mundo de Talentos offers guidance on work and studies through an intensive three-year program that takes place every Saturday. Children between 10 and 13 years of age from different socioeconomic backgrounds are selected to participate. Passionate professionals (volunteer guest teachers) share their work experiences and invite students to learn in a participative manner about possible career opportunities. Classes are held at the project headquarters (the Pequeno Sol school) and through excursions to different work places. The program covers 15 modules over the 3 years that include architecture, arts, design, biology, entrepreneurship, journalism, medicine and many others. To make sure that the program is as effective as possible, the most motivated students are selected. During the three years the students go through different stages of development. They will strengthen their mutual connection, discover new skills and will become more and more familiar with the type of education that Mundo de Talentos offers. In addition, they will reach puberty, may have more responsibilities and will change their interests. The pedagogical and didactic approach of the first, second and third year students, therefore, are different as is the content of the program. The educator establishes the goals for the group at the beginning of the year and discusses them in the first session with the students, so that they form the context for the activities of the whole year.

The Grassrooted Trust (Guarantee) Ltd

The Grassrooted Trust (Guarantee) Limited was set up to work on gender-based violence (GBV), and on sexual and reproductive health education. The Grassrooted Trust is currently one of few organizations working on Cyber Exploitation and Violence (CEV) prevention in schools in Colombo and Batticaloa and supported the National Child Protection Authority's cyber exploitation prevention education efforts in Vavuniya. We understand CEV to be a manifestation of intimate partner and gender-based violence. We are in collaboration with Women in Need (WIN) to provide a response mechanism that assess incidents, connects with existing redressal mechanisms, and provides legal support and counselling when necessary. The Grassrooted Trust has also developed an online interactive portal in English, Sinhala, and Tamil on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, including relationships, gender identity and sexual orientation, gender based and intimate partner violence, HIV and STIs, cyber exploitation and violence - the first of its kind in Sri Lanka - www.bakamoono.lk. The Grassrooted Trust has also helped design and implement two age-appropriate relationship education programmes; one in a mainstream boy's school in Mount Lavinia, and another in a mainstream girl's school in Colombo. We also conduct workshops on Gender, Gender Based and Intimate Partner Violence, HIV and STIs, and Cyber Exploitation and Violence, for schools, youth, corporate entities, and community-based organisations. Grassrooted's work in CEV as well as in setting up relationship education programs in schools has included extensive work with parents, teachers, and children in early childhood and pre-school education which is the age group that will be focused on in the study. We have extensive expertise working with children and concerned adults and we are constantly engaged with and understand the context in which they function, including the media they consume. Grassrooted advocates extensively for accurate and comprehensive age-appropriate relationship education interventions for schools, using national statistics; case studies, interviews, testimonies; and evidence gathered during our programmes. This has helped us develop a key understanding of the age group and the stakeholders that will be the focus of the research, including best practices in terms of the approach needed to obtain information and data, as well as access to people and institutions where information can be obtained. Grassrooted has also been a Member of the National Taskforce on Cyber Exploitation, set up by the National Child Protection Authority

Yayasan Taman Cipta Karya Nusantara

With regard to TCKN's Montessori school, named Lilliput World, our mission is to nurture the younger generation of pre-school age and stimulate their curiosity as they develop a love of learning and a commitment to values while realising their individual potential with the dynamic support of parents as fellow members of the learning community. The school's motto is Learn, Understand and Grow. Our Aims are: Creating a top quality educational and development environment for all children in Lilliput World with a focus on a values-based learning environment, intellectual and personal development and harmony with the natural world. Walking together with children as their companions as they grow and develop, supporting them to make the most of the gifts they were born with. Providing a nourishing, safe and loving environment in which children may explore, experience, express and deepen their own values and character while learning about and cultivating their sense of identity and the nation's cultural values. Strengthening practical and everyday life skills through routines and classroom activities so as to support the development of each child's independence and self-confidence from an early age. Providing balanced, continuous and appropriate basic stimulation to create a strong foundation for the next level of education. Creating a supportive space in which parents and teachers are partners and companions with each other and students as they are learning and playing so that students receive social and emotional support from parents. With regard to TCKN's adult classes, in particular our Nusantara International Hospitality Courses, our mission is to provide practical and experiential learning opportunities for the benefit of those otherwise challenged to afford them, recognising that education is the key to the realisation of individual potential and the socio-economic development and progress of each community. The rationale for this is that people do not need to be defined, or limited, by their socio-economic background; with drive, talent, determination and a little support they can achieve wonders. Empowering education can help them overcome challenges, remove some of the barriers to progress and prosperity potential and flourish. A major issue that holds back many younger people is the lack of access to the chance to learn skills, acquire knowledge and build capabilities that will enable them to lead productive, meaningful, creative and autonomous lives. TCKN seeks to address this need by offering low-cost learning opportunities, with a focus on practical and vocational knowledge and skills for the growing hospitality and tourism sectors of the economy. The motto for our adult education classes is Learning for a Better Life.

Community Food Initiatives

Community Food Initiatives (CFI) is a 25 year-old organization serving families and individuals in Appalachia Ohio. The mission of CFI is to ensure everyone has equal access to healthy, local food. CFI's vision is a resilient region in which everyone in our community has access to an equitable, inclusive, and thriving local food system. As a membership-based social benefit organization founded in 1992, Community Food Initiatives is deeply connected to the region. CFI is a long-serving team player within the local food system, as we believe that we benefit when others succeed, because that is how community works. CFI is the only organization in the area routinely donating thousands of pounds of local produce to food pantries, connecting regional seed savers to promote seed diversity and sustainability, managing low-cost community garden plots, supporting school gardens and teaching youth to grow food, and offering gardening and cooking workshops to adults. Community members, regional farmers and food producers, partnering non-profits, local government, and foundations support our work. All of these programs come together to build a stronger community where citizens are empowered to grow and cook their own healthy, whole foods, despite the barriers of poverty. CFI is building capacity to reach more communities across the region by increasing collaborative efforts to fight food insecurity. We value naming our assets-soil, seeds, and an Appalachian heritage of food production and preservation-so that everyone can see their place in strengthening our assets and our community. We believe that by sharing the knowledge to grow and prepare wholesome foods, people become empowered to feed their families, improve their health, and strengthen their community. We are rooted in the belief that equitable access to fresh and nutritious local food leads to a safe and clean environment, meaningful work with livable wages, and fulfills the needs and rights of all people. Finally, we believe in the strength of collaboration and in doing better together. Our work is driven by those we serve: the community members themselves. We currently work in seven program areas: The Donation Station Program collects fresh local food at the Athens Farmers Market, Chesterhill Produce Auction, and farms and distributes it to regional food pantries and social service agencies. Additionally, the Discovery Kitchen project teaches healthy cooking classes to food pantry patrons using seasonal produce. These programs are now serving five Southeastern Ohio Counties - Athens, Meigs, Morgan, Vinton, and Washington. The Community Garden Program manages five community gardens, coordinates gardening and food preservation workshops throughout the year. Currently, we manage 20,000 square feet of garden space at five locations throughout Athens County. The School Garden Program offers support for school and youth gardens, working with day care centers, and youth social service agencies such as Athens County Children Services and all five Athens County school districts. CFI provides resources, consultation, volunteer coordination and curriculum integration resources for teachers. YEAH! Kids (Youth Entrepreneurs at Hope) program is funded by the Athens Metropolitan Housing Authority, and engages low-income youth between the ages of 11 and 18 in production gardening, culinary skills, money management, and professionalism. The YEAH! Kids grow their own produce in a community garden located at Hope Drive apartments, subsidized housing in Athens. They have weekly kitchen workshops where they make products such as jam and kimchi using the produce they grow. The participants sell those products at the Athens Farmers Market, and they log their hours and get paid according to how much work they put into the garden and kitchen. Ridge & Hollow Seed Alliance is CFI's regional seed company, named for the hills and valleys of Appalachia. Ridge & Hollow supports the preservation of regionally adapted, open-pollinated seeds through partnerships with skilled seed savers in the Central Appalachian region. Additionally, Ridge & Hollow Seed Alliance hosts seed saving workshops and annual seed exchanges. SEO FOODLINK is an action research project that maps emergency food networks and compiles data from 10 Southeast Ohio counties into an online resource hub. This is a new initiative launched by CFI in 2017, in partnership with West Virginia University. FOODLINK is designed to alleviate food insecurity through the sharing of resources and facilitation of grassroots collaborations.
