Crossroads services are free and provided in both official languages. Transition house: A safe shelter provided on a short-term basis to women and children living with family violence. Bridges for Women Society was established in Victoria, BC in 1988 and provides a unique employability training program for women with histories of abuse and violence. Women reach personal and financial independence through programming that is designed to assist women overcome barriers to employment related to abuse. Bridges provides women with education, training, and professional one-on-one support. This customized program assists women in becoming employable and helps them break the cycle of abuse.
Our primary purpose is to increase public awareness of women’s achievements and their roles in history and to provide positive public images of women and girls. To fulfill these purposes, Wild West Women, Inc. will, with a particular emphasis on films concerning women’s issues, women’s history and women creators: produce educational films and accompanying educational materials; distribute educational films and videos to the general public; provide training in independent and educational film making, with special efforts to include women and girls of diverse cultures; and provide and sponsor other public educational film, video and arts activities.
