Elizabeth House

Of more than 53,000 individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, families make up around 34%. Of these families, 84% are headed by single mothers, with 1 in 20 whom are pregnant and lacking adequate care. Elizabeth House addresses an unmet community need by providing shelter and comprehensive care for pregnant women and their children experiencing homelessness. We recognize the immediate and long term toll the trauma of homelessness takes on pregnant women and their children, and we envision a world where cycles of trauma are broken and all families have the opportunity to thrive. \n\nSince 1994, we have mad it our mission that, through shelter and lifelong support, we empower pregnant and parenting mothers in need to reclaim their lives and build successful family legacies.

Home Roots Foundation is dedicated to improving education access and alleviating poverty in Haiti. We support students by helping pay for tuition, tutoring, and materials. We also teach kids, ages 8-17, English twice a week. For the parents, we have a women's economic empowerment program to help increase income through their microenterprises.

Access Housing Inc

Access Housing, Inc. (DC) (AHI) is a nonprofit 501(c)3, community-based organization committed and dedicated to the principle that everyone, regardless of income or socioeconomic status, has a right to decent, safe, and affordable housing. The program's focus is to support homeless veterans.AHI is the first program in the greater DC metro area to focus on housing homeless veterans . The organization operates two facilities which provide safe housing to nearly 100 homeless veterans, both men and women at a given time. AHI, which works in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, operates the Southeast Veterans Service Center and the Chesapeake Veterans House. These homes provide homeless veterans their own rooms, full meal service, a variety of counseling services (housing, job, mental health, PTSD, and substance abuse, as needed), barber and beauty services, a VA run medical clinic, and more. The ultimate goal of the program is to help place veterans in permanent housing. Veterans from across the DC metro area reside at the center. The wait list for veterans seeking to obtain a home at the center is extensive. To date, thousands of veterans have successfully returned to civilian life after going through AHI's program.

The Mission’s ultimate objective is for clients to: 1.) Become mature followers of Jesus Christ, 2.) Achieve freedom from substance abuse, 3.) Reunite with family and loved ones, and 4.) Reemerge as self-sufficient members of the community.

While living at Hope Ministries, residents have opportunities to grow in their stability, recovery and faith. Three free meals are also offered every day to anyone in our community, resulting in nearly 8,000 meals each month.

Hearth Homes strives to inspire transformation in the lives of young mothers by assisting in the development of essential life skills such as parenting, nutrition and independent living skills (finance, housekeeping, and responsible renting). Hearth Homes is supported entirely by individual donations and private grants from the Spokane Valley and local communities. Thank you!
