At Council for the Homeless we believe housing is a human need and our mission is to prevent and end homelessness in Clark County, WA. We serve as the central access point for homelessness and housing assistance countywide and our staff assist people each day through our Housing Hotline, Outreach, Housing Coordination, and programs for specific groups such as seniors, families, and Veterans.

Our mission is "Growing Children, Strengthening Families and Changing Neighborhoods" to ensure that low income at risk families receive quality services, when they need them, regardless of why, from caring people. Lydia's House, established in 1990 by Eugene and Patrice Sheppard, takes a holistic approach to family development and provides multi-faceted services to end the cycle of poverty. Over the past 16 years, Lydia's House has grown to provide youth intervention services, including a homework center for children ages 6-12, tutoring, and mentoring for youth ages 13-17, teen parenting/ pregnancy prevention. Lydia's House adult intervention services include adult literacy , entrepreneurial development, computer training, substance abuse prevention counseling and housing for seniors. Their work with families living in far southwest and southeast neighborhoods of Anacostia, Bellevue, Congress Heights and Washington Highland began in 1989 at a shelter for homeless families. Under their leadership, Lydia's House has served hundreds of families, often paying rent to prevent eviction, providing food and paying utility bills. Lydia's House provides fist time homebuyer training and works with lenders, real estate brokers and other industry partners to promote home ownership.

Our House of Hope is a prevention-focused animal welfare organization that rescues, medically and behaviorally rehabilitates, and rehomes animals while offering community programs (pet food pantry, enrichment, therapy/education) to keep pets and people together. It also provides targeted support to seniors, low-income families, veterans, and others so animals can remain with their families whenever possible.

JTD is premised on the belief that substantive and supportive curriculum-based programs can be a powerful catalyst for homeless and victimized teens to be positively motivated to pursue education and healthy living goals. As the numbers of homeless and victimized teens grow, JTD is aggressively stretching to reach more teens each year through community outreach, school programs, prevention, education, teen residential shelter, and supportive service initiatives

The mission of the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless is to generate policies, community support and local resources for housing and services to end homelessness in Minnesota. They believe everyone deserves a safe, decent, affordable place to call home and that homelessness is preventable. Many factors may cause homelessness including a health crisis, a lost job, a mismatch between income and housing costs, family violence, or a transition from an institutional setting back into a community. The Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless exists to ensure the community supports are in place to prevent and address the root causes of homelessness. They achieve their mission and vision through advocacy, technical assistance, and building public awareness. The Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless is uniquely positioned as the hub of a statewide network of 150 homeless service providers and other concerned individuals and organizations across Minnesota. The Coalition has been the voice for people experiencing homelessness and for service providers in state and federal policy decision-making since 1984.

The Mission of Nicholas House, Inc. is to assist families in making the transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Nicholas House understands that providing basic subsistence - food and shelter, is necessary but not sufficient to prevent most homeless persons from becoming homeless again. Nicholas House helps families address the root causes of their homelessness by offering counseling, case management, assistance with life skills and parenting, and other supportive services.

Veterans Association of America, Inc. is an organization that provides legal assistance, housing, employment opportunities, business ownership, discharge upgrades, medical assistance, family outreach, and other pressing issues that stand as debilitating factors preventing veterans and their families from receiving the “quality care” deserved throughout mainstream society. No other Veteran’s organization is as compassionate or effective, and if you give us the chance, we’ll show you why!

We empower survivors of domestic violence and their children to believe in themselves and build new lives filled with dignity, respect, safety, and hope. Empowerhouse gives victims the time, space, and tools to heal their hearts, renew their spirits, restore their connections, and rebuild their lives. We break the cycle of domestic violence through shelter, housing, support, education, prevention, and intervention.Empowerhouse serves the Counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, Stafford and the City of Fredericksburg in Virginia.

The mission of Chest of Hope is to encourage and promote a healthy family system through prevention, education, intervention and support. It is our hope to bring domestic violence out of the closet while working simultaneously to eradicate personal, recognized and cultural violence against all individuals and to yoke the community against it. Chest of Hope provides a home and establishes a standard of excellence where victims will have safe and healthy relationships free of sexual and domestic violence and a stellar quality of life.

HOME, Inc. was founded in 1967 through the efforts of citizens concerned about the lack of decent, affordable housing. As the oldest private, non-profit housing organization in Des Moines, our mission is to create opportunities for quality, affordable housing. Study after study reports that quality, affordable housing enables people to stabilize their lives. To accomplish our mission, HOME, Inc. develops affordable housing, provides both rental and home ownership counseling and education, and homeless prevention services.

Assist adults, children and youth in reclaiming their right to a life free from domestic violence. SafeHouse Denver strives to: • intervene in domestic violence with services that empower adults, children and youth to live free from domestic abuse. • prevent domestic violence through education efforts that foster and support a broad movement for violence-free communities. • facilitate an interactive, collaborative community response to relationship violence that identifies victims earlier, makes victim services more accessible, and builds community awareness and accountability.
