The Preschool program has been established as a service to the families and children of our area communities. The curriculum emphasizes teaching the whole child by seeking to provide opportunities for the social, mental, physical, and spiritual development of the child. Active play is balanced with quiet activity to prevent fatigue and over stimulation. Within a Christian atmosphere the staff seeks to teach readiness skills in reading, math and writing, a beginning exploration of science, music and art appreciation and a weekly language experience in Spanish. Creative play, traffic safety, field trips, nutritional morning snacks and interdenominational Christian education are also part of the program. This includes an anti-bias multi-cultural curriculum. The Preschool program is organized to nurture in children a positive self-image where they can work, learn and play with companions of their own age in a friendly, happy, atmosphere, where there is cooperative democratic living and where children can gain new skills, appreciation and good habits.

We believe that the universe is spiritual and has intelligence, purpose, beauty, and order. Our beliefs are in harmony with all the world’s great spiritual teachings, and we honor all paths to God. Whether we call it God, Spirit or Universal Intelligence, we are always conscious that all people, places, and things come from this Universal Intelligence that is within each of us and is all around us. We believe that God is a Loving Intelligence, operating in and through all life, never separate from anyone or anything. Through study and spiritual practice we come to understand our oneness with this indwelling Divine Presence. We teach and practice a way of life where we can all learn how to live in accordance with spiritual principles. These principles, which we call the Science of Mind, are as reliable as the laws of physical science. We believe in Cause and Effect and we teach that, “It is done unto you as you believe.” (Matt 9:29) In essence, your thinking and your expectations create your reality. By studying and applying spiritual laws, you can change your unconscious beliefs and create improved conditions in your life.

The Compassion Closet exists to show the love of Christ by providing quality clothing and tangible goods to foster children and their families. We also desire to serve birth families, aging-out youth, kinship placements, and domestic/international adoptive families as God allows and the needs arise.

St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church is a parish in the Rockford Diocese of Illinois, serving under the faithful leadership of The Most Reverend David Malloy, Bishop. Their parish has a rich history with our 125th Anniversary celebrated in 2001. They have approximately 900 families registered in the parish. The parish school is a gem in this rural yet rapidly expanding village.
