We address the epidemic of violence and recidivism by providing at-risk, previously incarcerated, and foster care youth with a variety of career opportunities that would normally not be afforded them. For over two decades, Cinnamongirl Inc. has been a powerful force for girls of color navigating spaces where they're often "the only one." We serve brilliant students ages 8-18 who often feel hypervisible yet invisible in their environments. Our evidence-based approach centers on a fundamental truth: belonging must come before leadership. Through our three-tier program model, we create sisterhood-driven spaces where girls discover the difference between fitting in and truly belonging. Our participants engage in social-emotional learning, peer mentorship through our big sister/little sister program, travel experiences, and capstone projects that culminate in publishing or delivering public presentations. The outcomes speak volumes: 98% of our girls matriculate to college, and 86% pursue leadership roles in their communities. We don't just prepare girls to adapt to existing systems—we empower them to transform any space they enter. Because when girls of color find authentic belonging and develop unshakeable confidence, they become the visionary leaders our world desperately needs. The confidence of girlhood today becomes the courage of womanhood tomorrow. Because every girl deserves to lead.
