Project Soar Marrakech

Established in 2013, Project Soar (PS) is a registered Moroccan charitable association and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the US, headquartered in Marrakech. With a mission to empower teen girls to become the leaders of today and tomorrow, our signature girls’ empowerment curriculum is designed to equip marginalized teen girls with the skills and confidence to build more productive futures. Project Soar envisions a world where every marginalized teen girl knows her value, voice, body, rights and path. We're here to ignite a movement where girls are not just participants but trailblazers in the journey toward global gender equality. These girls become role models and change-makers, driving meaningful projects that address critical challenges. Together, we’re building a more equitable, sustainable world, one girl at a time. To date, Project Soar has empowered more than 30,000 girls and operates across 41 sites in Morocco, each serving as a hub for the next generation of female leaders. Our model has expanded beyond Morocco to Uganda, Lebanon, Syria, Guinea, and Ivory Coast, adapting our programme for new contexts while building local partners’ capacity to sustain the work. What began as a local initiative in Morocco has evolved into a scalable girl-powered movement across the MENA region and sub-Saharan Africa.

Founded in 1883, YMCAs collectively make up the largest nonprofit community service organization in America. YMCAs are at the heart of community life in neighborhoods and towns across the nation. They work to meet the health and social service needs of 16.9 million men, women and children.Ys help people develop values and behavior that are consistent with Christian principles. Ys are for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. No one is turned away for inability to pay. YMCAs' strength is in the people they bring together.In the average Y, a volunteer board sets policy for its executive, who manages the operation with full-time and part-time staff and volunteer leaders. Ys meet local community needs through organized activities called programs. In its own way, every Y nurtures the healthy development of children and teens; strengthens families; and makes its community a healthier, safer, better place to live.YMCA programs are tools for building the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Longtime leaders in community-based health and fitness and aquatics, Ys teach kids to swim, offer exercise classes for people with disabilities and lead adult aerobics. Like other national YMCA movements, the YMCA of the USA is a member of the World Alliance of YMCAs, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.History: The YMCA was founded in London, England, in 1844 by George Williams and about a dozen friends who lived and worked as clerks in a drapery a forerunner of dry-goods and department stores. Their goal was to help young men like themselves find God. The first members were evangelical Protestants who prayed and studied the Bible as an alternative to vice. The Y movement has always been nonsectarian and today accepts those of all faiths at all levels of the organization, despite its unchanging name, the Young Men's Christian Association.The first U.S. YMCA started in Boston in 1851, the work of Thomas Sullivan, a retired sea captain who was a lay missionary. Ys spread fast and soon were serving boys and older men as well as young men. Although 5,145 women worked in YMCA military canteens in World War I, it wasn't until after World War II that women and girls were admitted to full membership and participation in the US YMCAs. Today half of all YMCA members and program members are female, and half are under age 18.

Why Scouting? Since 1910, Scouting hasn't been so much about twigs and leaves, camping or hiking as it is about the spark. The spark may be a leader's encouraging words, achieving a merit badge for engineering or going on a high adventure rafting trip. There's no telling what the spark might be for a young person, but it just may ignite a fire within that burns his or her entire life. Prepared. For Adventure. It's a big world. Pack a map. Scouting is many young men and women's introduction to the great outdoors and, most important, a lesson on their place in it. Prepared. For Leadership. Scouting builds leaders. Former Scouts sit on the boards of global corporations, walk the halls of the White House and have been known to occasionally go hiking on the moon. The life lessons young people learn in Scouting help them make good decisions throughout their life. Prepared. For Service. Many Scouts achieve more before the age of 18 than some people do in a lifetime. Best of all, they do it to not only improve themselves, but also their communities. Prepared. For Learning. ARMED SERVICES YMCA OF THE USA - 22193-1438 (14040 CENTRAL LOOP)

The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) is a Charity Watch and Charity Navigator top-rated, 501(c)(3) military charity, ranking among the top two percent of charities nationwide for effectiveness and fiscal responsibility. We provide free and low-cost specialized programming and support services to military service members and their families with a particular focus on junior-enlisted men and women. As a national member association of the YMCA of the USA, we operate more than 200 program centers worldwide. In coordination with the Department of Defense and installation commands, we work closely to identify gaps in support and services currently available, and tailor our programming to meet those needs.  Our programming offers essential services such as childcare, hospital assistance, spousal and deployment support services, emergency food and essentials assistance, educational and mentoring programs for military children, counseling, wounded warrior support, wounded family support, health and wellness services, family and youth recreational program and activities, and holiday programs. All programming is tailored to the specific needs of the military community on the local level. We greatly rely on public support to keep our programming free and low-cost. Our more than 15,000 volunteers deliver 127,000 volunteer hours each year to serve the nearly 500,000 service members and their families our programming reaches at our 34 branch and affiliate locations annually.

Stem Advantage

STEM Advantage's mission is to mentor, prepare and inspire young women and underserved communities to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through paid internships, mentorships and scholarships. This 360-degree approach is designed to provide the support needed to keep promising scholars in a STEM program, including the skills and work experience that will assist them in landing their first position after graduation, plus graduate with less student debt. In 2012 we launched our program at California State University, Dominguez Hills, a highly diverse, urban university that serves the Los Angeles metropolitan area. In 2014 we expanded our program to include students at California State University, Los Angeles, which is also highly diverse. Our goal "23 by 2023" is to offer our program at all 23 California State University (CSU) campuses by 2023. The CSU is the nation's largest four-year public university system with 23 campuses. The CSU stretches 800 miles from Humboldt in the north to San Diego in the South, and educates approximately 460,000 students. We selected the CSU as our university partner because the CSU: educates the most ethnically, economically and academically diverse student body in the nation provides more than half of all undergraduate degrees granted to California's Latino, African American and Native American students is the nation's largest four-year public university system; more than a third of CSU students are first generation college students.

Powerful Beyond Measure

Powerful Beyond Measure (PBM) is a 501c3 non-profit that implements efforts towards youth and community development; focusing on creative, academic, professional, civic, social and personal growth by strategically integrating the arts, entertainment, sports and media industries into programming. Our vision is to utilize these influential fields to effectively reach the urban communities of our targeted youth, via multi-dimensional services that will help positively shape young people and empower the adults around them to become active leaders and contributors. We aim towards the following: o To impact urban youth by exposing them to enriching and positive experiences, opportunities, and adults – leading them towards a greater chance for a productive adult life and away from negative endeavors o To create alliances with other non-profits to support them by developing a collective effort to assist and empower those around us; as well as support like-minded organizations with resources and services. o To help lower income families experience the same rights as those of greater income i.e. education, job training & access, programs and food/clothing – through volunteerism and information PBM uses the arts, entertainment and sports as tools to motivate. This approach was developed upon the realization that these fields are powerful by way of their appeal and influence on our target population. By harnessing that power to make programs more appealing, we can continue to implement the important values and societal offerings of more conventional non-profits. Powerful Beyond Measure believes we can help each other realize our potential for greatness, inspire the pursuit of success, and make powerful strides by working together for altruistic purposes. Founded in 2006, the organization began with its charter program, C.A.P.E. League (see below) – a multi-dimensional youth enrichment program. In 2007, we launched Exploring Possibilities, a unique career day for teens and young adults to discover non-traditional professions. Since 2008, we have produced PBM's Weekly Source Email – an on-line newsletter distributed to DC area residents, community groups and non-profits. It lists public events, job openings, services, scholarships and programs. In 2017, PBM will re-launch the Triple I Program to provide young adults with the opportunity to gain professional experience through hands-on work, mentorship, workshops and giving back.

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, Inc.

Mission: "Girl Scouts build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place." The Value proposition is that Girl Scouts is where girls find their voices and make them matter. The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland has served the Metropolitan area since 1962. In the ensuing five decades, the neighborhoods and communities of Baltimore City and certain surrounding counties have changed. The GSCM has endeavored to change to be responsive to these changing demographics and keep current with the needs of girls in Central Maryland. GSCM conducted extensive research into the needs of girls and young women who live in Baltimore City. The families in these areas are typically single-parent families with income levels near the poverty line. Many parents work more than one job to make ends meet. And then there is the special group of girls, often forgotten, who are separated from their mother for reasons over which they had no control. Delivering the extra-curricular activities that are necessary for girls to achieve later in life is a founding principle and goal of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. This includes learning the real meaning behind the Girl Scout Law of "I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout. In underserved communities there is a lack of availability of programs, and lack of transportation. GSCM intends to continue to fill this void with its Beyond Bars program and needs your support to assure we can continue to transport girls from their neighborhoods to the facility which houses their mother. Overall, for the entire council, the goals for 2015-2018 were established for a target population of girls in kindergarten through 12th grade, the goals and are: (a) to empower a culturally diverse population of girls through engagement in a Girl Scout leadership pathway; (b) to increase the reach of GSCM's programs and unique experiences by enrolling an increased number of girls, particularly girls from underserved communities, as members of the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland; and (c) to recruit, screen and orient new and existing adult volunteers, who are guided and trained to mentor a culturally diverse Girl Scout population.

PTSD Foundation of America

To combat post traumatic stress; bring healing to our military community (active duty, reserves and national guard, veterans, and their families) through pastoral counseling, and peer mentoring, both on an individual basis, and in group settings. Raise awareness of the increasing needs of the military community through public events, media outlets, social media, service organizations, and churches. Networking government agencies, service organizations, churches and private sector businesses into a united “corps of compassion”, to bring their combined resources together to meet the needs of the military community on a personal and individual/family level. Our brave men and women in uniform understand duty, honor, and sacrifice. Many have returned home with both the visible scars, and the unseen wounds of war. to give back to those who have given of themselves so selflessly PTSD Foundation of America is a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring to our combat veterans and their families with post traumatic stress. Many warriors are coming home with visible wounds; countless others are coming home with scars we cannot see, wounded souls from witnessing the horrors of war over and over again – PTSD. We feel it is our duty as Americans to help these mighty warriors and their families adjust and find their new normal. It is our turn to step up with other excellent existing community organizations and help those that have fought and sacrificed so much for us. We are faith-based in our approach and have a great history of providing hope and healing to those experiencing the unseen wounds of war. We offer a safe place where no one is judged, everyone is supported, and everything a warrior says or is revealed is confidential within the group. We would like the opportunity to train and/or help form groups within your community for warriors & their families to reach out to. Our teams consist of veterans, active and reserve service members as well as civilians that have a heart for the military and their families. We have active, reserve and/or veterans from every war up to world war ii that are coming to our groups. Warriors that we have worked with have learned how to heal and cope with ptsd to find their “new normal” and are now are reaching out to other warriors to let them know that there is hope in the darkness and they are not alone. please give us the opportunity to show you what we can do to provide hope for the warriors in darkness and the families who love and support them. to increase public awareness of post traumatic stress establishing relationships within the faith based community and secular organizations to facilitate support systems for our military community; locating and identifying churches currently ministering to, or are willing to consider beginning ministries to our military community workshops and counseling manuals are provided for both the warrior and their families. by assisting the spouses, children and other family members, we aid in the healing process of the individual with ptsd. Too often other treatment options fail to appropriately address the impact of ptsd on the family; training is available through regional workshops or through video. training should be undertaken by pastors, staff, counselors and lay-members who might interact in any counseling program; keeping the issue before the media and general public through regular press releases and email newsletters, as well as psa’s, websites and facebook
