"THE SWITCH YARD"

Switch Yard is a collective of individuals who believe that our youth have more to them than their the societal labels. A group of physical representatives who act as manifestations of Jesus and the love that he shows to everyone. The volunteers and staff at the Switch Yard are dedicated to showing youth love when it seems that no one else will. Switch Yard is not a building, it is not a club nor is it a space. The Switch Yard is a community. We are friends, advocates, parental figures, brothers and sisters and grandparents. We believe that the Gospel we love and trust is Jesus, and as his followers we must radiate his love, show his grace and be the extension of Him in our community. We believe that there is no person who is beyond hope or redemption; no one has lived an ugly enough life that God’s light cannot make them shine with beauty.

INCLUSION ACTION IN ONTARIO

Integration Action for Inclusion in Education and Community (Ontario) is an action-oriented association, parent support group consisting of parents, educators and concerned citizens, who are advocates for the inclusion of all children in their neighbourhood schools and in the community. We believe that all children have the right to a quality education that will prepare them for a full and productive life in the community. It is our belief that the best way to prepare children who need extra support is to educate them alongside their peers. This is achieved through individualized programming and supports for all children. Successful inclusion of a child needing extra support benefits not only the child, but also his or her friends and peers, the education system and society as a whole.

SUDBURY RAINBOW CRIME STOPPERS

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit community program involving the co-operative efforts of the police, the community and the media. It encourages people to call Crime Stoppers with information to solve crimes already committed, ones about to occur, and/or the whereabouts of wanted persons or missing persons, narcotics or stolen property. Crime Stoppers is based on the simple principle that for every crime committed, someone other than the criminal has information that would solve the crime. Citizens from the community often witness all or parts of a crime without being aware of what they have seen. They may unknowingly have information that is the key to solving the crime. Crime Stoppers provides a method for the community to overcome these obstacles and yet become involved in solving crime. Crime Stoppers is an effective tool where the private citizen joins together with law enforcement officials to solve crime. To the police service, Crime Stoppers plays a vital role.

WHITE RIBBON

White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end violence against women and girls, promote gender equity, healthy relationships and a new vision of masculinity. Starting in 1991, we asked men to wear white ribbons as a pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls. Since then the White Ribbon has spread to over 60 countries around the world. We work to examine the root causes of gender-based violence and create a cultural shift that helps bring us to a future without violence. Our vision is for a masculinity that embodies the best qualities of being human. We believe that men are part of the solution and part of a future that is safe and equitable for all people.
