The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day they raise the expectations of blind people because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams.
The National Federation of the Blind of Virginia (NFBV) is a nonprofit made up of blind people of all ages, their families and friends. Our members and leaders provide advocacy and support to blind and visually impaired Virginians across the commonwealth. We work together to promote full participation and integration of blind people in all areas of life, and we serve as an advocate for change when equal access and treatment of the blind is denied
They are dedicated to rescuing and rehoming blind and visually impaired dogs, and educating the public about these special animals.
The Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) provides vision rehabilitation, employment supports, assistive-technology training, and community services so people who are blind or have low vision can prevent, prepare for, and adapt to vision loss and live with greater independence. Their programs serve individuals across the Delaware Valley with direct training, prevention/low-vision services, and vocational supports.
The organization (historically the Montreal Association for the Blind and now operating through successor fundraising structures) raises funds and supports rehabilitation, training and community programs for people with visual, hearing, motor or communication impairments in Montreal.
